Fractal Core 500 with Radeon 580?

A friends son is getting a gaming computer and my friend is asking me for advice on this build. Fractal Design Core 500 looks like a great case and the Acer XF270HUA 27 inch Freesync screen is something I'd like to recommend (fairly cheap while it comes with 1440p/IPS/144Hz etc). Would a "Sapphire R...

Re: NZXT Kraken X61 28cm Liquid Cooler

NZXT does offer an adapter to use their WC units on gfx cards: http://www.nzxt.com/product/detail/138-kraken-g10-gpu-bracket.html We just received one & will be testing the X41 and X61 on various cards. Sorry didn't read that last bit of your post... but the Ncase needs something good - the Corsair...

Re: NZXT Kraken X61 28cm Liquid Cooler

However I'd like to propose an alternative / derived product: an AIO gfx cooler for 2 (or even 3!!!) GPUs, using this 2 x 140 mm radiator. For those who don't want to build their own water-loop, I think it would make sense. The X61 should be able to cool 2 (or even 3) GTX 970 GPUs. The Kraken G10 w...

Re: New quiet ITX build advice

Looks like the pushpin on the Haswell board is slightly further from the CPU socket, but most likely still close enough to foul the very edge of the Shuriken 2 Rev.B's backplate. Just something to keep in mind. At least the mod is an easy one, just drilling a hole in the backplate to let the pushpi...

Re: New quiet ITX build advice

Cooler for Asus p8z77-I deluxe - Page 2 - Post 70 by DaddyBoy (lots of pictures here) Note the issue with the chipset heatsink's pushpin, and the Shuriken's backplate. You'll need to drill a hole in the backplate to allow that pushpin to poke through. The rev. B version for Big Shuriken 2 is very n...

Re: New quiet ITX build advice

It seems to fit fine, it up to you to crosscheck that both boards have the same layout (specially the CPU placement), my "guess" is that they are. Ill leave you a pic of both side by side, On the first of your pics the USB ports on the right seem to lean towards the side so the daughter board shoul...

Re: New quiet ITX build advice

I can't find any info online whether the Scythe Big Shuriken will fit the Asus mobo so I'll probably go with the Asrock one instead to be on the safe side. It has "FAN-Tastic Tuning" for fan control which "will test each of the" [...] " controllable fan headers in terms of RPM against power applied....

Re: New quiet ITX build advice

To end the post, im just going to suggest an alternative, Case: Fractal Design Node 304 It will allow you to use tower cooler while still allowing to have 6 hdds a standard ATX PSU and dedicated GPU (if you use a gpu it will lower the hdds to 4). Test the included fans first, they are decent. If yo...

New quiet ITX build advice

I'm looking at getting a new computer soon and would like to get some input for what I would like to get. Here's the hardware I find most interesting: Case: Lian Li PC-Q18B ( http://www.silentpcreview.com/article1272-page1.html , http://www.lian-li.com/en/dt_portfolio/pc-q18/ ). CPU: Intel Core i3-4...

Re: Most silent Radeon 6850? (excluding PowerColor passive)

If you check out the following site (http://ht4u.net/reviews/2010/gesamtvergleich_lautstaerke_grafikkarten/index4.php) you can get an idea of the noise on some cards, the "MSI R6850 Cyclone Power Edition [Silent Mode]" is pretty silent (it shows the noise when in idle so check the next two pages as ...

Re: 120hz monitors and gaming

All the 120Hz monitors so far use low quality TN panels. So motion is better, but then you have the ugly TN vertical color shift. There is actually a new 23 inch IPS panel from LG in the works that uses 120 hz refresh rate and also scanning backlights so that it can reach 240 Hz. Se this link: http...

The only mini-itx 1156 motherboard with 6 sata ports is the "Zotac H55-ITX" but it doesn´t have support for the onboard graphics so you´ll have to use a graphics card with the PCIe x16 slot. The motherboard does however support core i3 and core i5 CPUs so it doesn´t require a bios update prior.

I use Nod32 and Zone Alarm with a hardware firewall. Then to top it off i also use Faronics Deep Freeze which always restores the C drive with every restart ("My Documents", "Favorites" etc is on the D partition). This keeps the computer safe and secure. Most of the time I only need to unfreeze it w...

Here is a list from a Swedish price guide with PCI only graphics cards: http://www.prisjakt.nu/kategori.php?k=351 Hopefully you can find a name and search for it elsewhere. To find a low power card you might get some help from this page: http://www.behardware.com/articles/781-1/report-the-true-power...

There's always the Silverstone TJ08 or the Silverstone Sugo SG03-F - in the latter you can use a Scythe Big Shuriken and get two really silent case fans.

Sandboxie creates a sandbox for my internet browser and with Deep Freeze I can make sure my C: Drive is always secure.

There is an H-ISP panel från Apple that came out last year - the Apple LED Cinema Display - but it draws about 212 watts. There's also TN LED displays from LG and Benq out now. The LG W2486L, Benq V2400 Eco and Benq V2410 Eco. The Benq monitors have 5 000 000:1 in dynamic contrast and draws 28 watts.
