Re: Supermicro SuperServer 5018A-FTN4 Rackmount Server
There's the written word for you, yours seemed pretty over the top to me, & mine in response over the top to you. Yeah multiple PM's, sorry about that, some slight confusion with using it initially... As to multiple bumps there hasn't been any, there's been just one, & RE emails I haven't sent a sin...

Re: Supermicro SuperServer 5018A-FTN4 Rackmount Server
It's not clear what you're asking. I've really said all I want to say on the subject -- it simply isn't worth the effort, time or money to try and improve efficiency at 20W. It just won't save enough energy. 2-3W maybe? Just turn off one of your lights a half hour earlier before bed and that will s...

Re: Supermicro SuperServer 5018A-FTN4 Rackmount Server
With reference to our kind host, I think that an e-mail will be more effective than a post. Okay I sent a PM addressed to both of them & linked to my post... http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=593894#p593894 Weirdly it's sitting in the "outbox" & not the "sent" folder (alongside o...

Re: Supermicro SuperServer 5018A-FTN4 Rackmount Server
What happened to the audio file for this article? It's no longer there on the last page... Larry's statement should not be taken out of context -- or maybe he should have made it more explicit that the reference is to EFFICIENCY only. There's a simple reason why the pico + adapter ends up more effic...

No idea sorry, haven't worried about speaker amp yet...
The soundcard I use (Essence ST) already has a decent headphone amp built-in.

Not a smidgen of the sparkle card anywhere anyway! "SFAUD2A1"
Was hoping to at least experiment with it, & perhaps try a mod or two.

Re: AMD's Maui HTPC Platform
Has anyone heard of a discrete / digital amp only card based on the DAE-3? I'm not interested in the entire MSI solution, I already have a base system. I heard there was a sparkle one, but from memory it was quite crippled (5x25watt as opposed to MSI's 5x100) So sad that nothing else eventuated... ...

Yeah I've since spoken to Mark & he confirmed they don't have them now . They're just taking pre-orders for 120 that are due by the end of Oct. So they're not getting them sooner than many other retailers, they're just taking pre-orders. Even the pre-orders would be used-up by now ..... I'll just bu...

Thank-you miahallen, noted as a potential candidate for case fans.
Once I've selected a case, & assuming included fans are insufficient.

Sweet, I'm building a similar platform (more varied functions) but on an ATX mobo. I also intend to muck around with IntelHD... But if it's too limited in GNU/Linux, then I too will migrate to a discrete. I had planned to get a GT220, but I may hold out for this nextgen stuff! I'll "keep my ears pee...

The X-650 is not exactly the same. Hmm, that's not what MikeC reckoned (aside from quietness of course) http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=515614#515614 The review seems to substantiate those earlier viewpoints too... For all performance metrics (aside from efficiency at sub 40w) ...
