Re: Supermicro SuperServer 5018A-FTN4 Rackmount Server

There's the written word for you, yours seemed pretty over the top to me, & mine in response over the top to you. Yeah multiple PM's, sorry about that, some slight confusion with using it initially... As to multiple bumps there hasn't been any, there's been just one, & RE emails I haven't sent a sin...

Re: Supermicro SuperServer 5018A-FTN4 Rackmount Server

It's not clear what you're asking. I've really said all I want to say on the subject -- it simply isn't worth the effort, time or money to try and improve efficiency at 20W. It just won't save enough energy. 2-3W maybe? Just turn off one of your lights a half hour earlier before bed and that will s...

Re: Supermicro SuperServer 5018A-FTN4 Rackmount Server

What happened to the audio file for this article? It's no longer there on the last page... Larry's statement should not be taken out of context -- or maybe he should have made it more explicit that the reference is to EFFICIENCY only. There's a simple reason why the pico + adapter ends up more effic...

No idea sorry, haven't worried about speaker amp yet...
The soundcard I use (Essence ST) already has a decent headphone amp built-in.

Re: AMD's Maui HTPC Platform

Has anyone heard of a discrete / digital amp only card based on the DAE-3? I'm not interested in the entire MSI solution, I already have a base system. I heard there was a sparkle one, but from memory it was quite crippled (5x25watt as opposed to MSI's 5x100) So sad that nothing else eventuated... ...

Yeah I've since spoken to Mark & he confirmed they don't have them now . They're just taking pre-orders for 120 that are due by the end of Oct. So they're not getting them sooner than many other retailers, they're just taking pre-orders. Even the pre-orders would be used-up by now ..... I'll just bu...

You 100% sure?

I've tried several retailers in the past few weeks who've said they have it.
Only to find they don't, and they've had to refund me.

All it says on their site is "expecting soon"....
Their instant chat's not working, I've emailed them.

Are these "slipstreams" you're referring a scythe model by any chance?

Thanks/night!

Interesting thanks...
What's the full-name of these "slipstreams" you're referring to?

I had been considering something from the GT family for case fans too.
"If" there aren't enough that come with my case, or they're too crappy.

I need to clear-up these definitions in my head I think!!?

So is the GT AP-15 still the bad-ass fan for rads if you want decent CFM, but not too noisy?

Any thoughts/advice massively appreciated!

Thanks for weighing in Mike, as I suspected, no "major overhaul".
Just the the usual refinements assoc/w production delivery, which over time can have very real impacts, due to greater QA.

On johnyyguru & here others have said that the the X-660/X-760 etc are nothing more than a marketing exercise.
As the x-750 and x-650 can easily handle such bumps....

And I believe reviewers such as Mike already have prototypes of said models, and so already have more of an idea than "spec. sheets"

The X-650 is not exactly the same. Hmm, that's not what MikeC reckoned (aside from quietness of course) http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=515614#515614 The review seems to substantiate those earlier viewpoints too... For all performance metrics (aside from efficiency at sub 40w) ...
