For reference, I just built a 24/7 server running WHS using the i3-530 (rest of the specs in my sig). It idles at 48 watts according to a Kill a Watt. That is with no bios tweaks or undervolting at all. With Prime95 running full bore, it maxed out at 95 watts. I have not run any serious benchmarks o...

FYI...the CPU you listed will not allow the use of "onboard" video. You will need a i3 or i5 Clarkdale series chip with that GA-H55M-USB3 to take advantage of integrated video, because the video is now on the chip, not the motherboard.

Would the liberal bios options for undervolting be able to offset the increased power consumption? The Intel board is remarkably low on consumption (like Atom level low!), but seems so sparse in other categories. Anyone have thoughts on the P7H55D vs. DH55TC for an always on 24/7 server/htpc system ...

I wonder why the Anand review test idle and load consumption with a power hungry 5870 installed. Isn't the point of Clarkdale to use the on die IGP? I mean like jmke said, the clarkdale is not suited for using a dedicated GPU. Over at avsforum, a user posted the following wattage ratings: "I got 25 ...

nice review. Yours shows much lower power consumption that on some of the other sites. Thank you for focusing on that aspect of the system. Can't wait to see more tests as they come out on the i3 and H series MB's with on die CPU + GPU, with True-HD and DTS-MA bitstreaming built in. that with even l...

My intro - WHS, psu's, long time SPCR reader

Hi all, I have been reading SPCR articles and reviews for a long time, but never posted in the forums because I have note had a build project to work on for several years. I have pouring over articles lately because I am getting ready to build a diy WHS. I picked up a Antec P180 Mini on black friday...

Does any of you by any chance know of any upcoming price cuts? I can hold off this upgrade until late January. I just noticed that Tiger Direct here in the US has all the new "e" line of AMD's up for sale. The 240e from the review in the OP is $85 for the retail version. I can't wait to see more re...
