Re: GTX 1650 Review compilation thread
Seems palit is releasing their passive GTX 1650 KalmX Is it worth paying the extra $ for the passive version of 1650, when a premium 0db-fan 1650-S card could be had for similar $ ? That would have made some sense at least before the 1650-S was released... I had been considering their 1050 Ti passi...

Re: Silent Workstation PC Build (Mid 2018)
<shrug> Does getting the 1600 AF free up money that you can spend on a gfx card that better suits your needs? I already got the 1650 Super...only needed that one really to run 2 monitors at full resolution / refresh rate...didn't like paying the premium for the MSI Gaming X 0db fans, but I'll get o...

Re: Silent Workstation PC Build (Mid 2018)
And speak of the devil... Ryzen 3600 is now sold at 176€ shipped...30€ more than the 2700 which I got.... BUT the 1600 AF (disguised R2600) has finally also made it's appearance at 94 EUR shipped... Since I haven't broken the seal of the 2700 box yet, should I a) return it and get a R3600? b) return...

New Case: Antec P110s, Antec P101s or Be Quiet PB/SB 600/601
So, despite being overall happy with my huge 67cm tall Chieftec Full Tower (https://www.chieftec.eu/en/products-archive/big-tower-detail.html), I am seriously considering buying a new case with the following attributes - well made, Sturdy (08-1.00mm Steel) - with easily removable dust filters - not ...

Re: Silent Workstation PC Build (Mid 2018)
Just wondering why you are opting for Ryzen 2xxx instead of 3xxx (especially if opting for Ryzen 5 series)? Nice bump in performance and at lower power use for the 3xxx. For a 40-50 EUR difference, I would easily choose a R2700 over a R3600...and perhaps the R2600 is even a better choice, actually....

Re: Looking for a quiet PC case to silence hard drive noise
I have a full tower Chieftec case, around 67cm tall, with 8 HDD and 6 ODD bays...white easy to work with, but it's short in width and nightmare from a dust-filtering perspective, in that there are no filters, fan bays are small and not made to push air across the case, which is moreso made to draw i...

Re: Options for new office pc
Just wondering one thing, what does the iGPU on the 2200G offers to you than intel HD630 cant give you? for me the intel igpu can do everything but gaming, even has quicksync that if you have a use for it its very nice (adobe, blue iris, encoding). It was a matter of cost, at the end of the day + t...

Re: Options for new office pc
The whole "PC Games Hardware" line (in Coolers, Cases etc across manufacturers) targets silent operation. The reasoning behind the Mugen 5 PCGH is that 2 fans, even if operating at lower RPM, are better than 1 fan either pushing or pulling air across the HT Fins. Also, the Mugen 5, having more heatp...

Re: Arctic Freezer 33 CO vs Cryorig H7
Thank you for the input. When I started this thread my mind was set on buying the cheapest, hopefully more effective CPU cooler immediately available for purchase. However, since the stock 2200G cooler has proved better than expected during the "transitional"-testing phase, I upgraded my options to ...

Re: Options for new office pc
I would first try to tweak your bios fan control (or software), you can easily restrict the cooler not to reach the rpms where you find it annoying, the 2200g according to AMD can operate to 95C, most of us here sacrifice temperature for noise, we are likely to run hot a cpu in exchange or quieter ...

Re: Options for new office pc
The 2200G should be relatively easy to cool, i would probably tested the included heatsink to see if you needed an upgrade, now the mugen would be more than capable even with 1 fan, the kotetsu should be also an overkill for this cpu, either will work fine, i like more mugen5 design but up if the c...

Ok I have just built my new office pc...it's been a few years, last one was back in 2010-2011. Ryzen 2200G Asrock B450 Fatality 2*8GB Corsair LPX Vengeance DDR4-3200Mhz Corsair RM550x (the 090 version, I believe it's a bit longer or has a slightly smaller fan than the 120 newer version) 120GB OCZ 10...

Re: Arctic Freezer 33 CO vs Cryorig H7
Hi I saw rave reviews for Arctic F12 Silent fans, so I bought one, and it has obvious bearing noise. So to me it is not silent. In fact I can walk into my room and know what my PC is upto, based on if it is spinning fast, based on the bearing noise. My PC is on my desk though and the case (Carbide ...

Re: Options for new office pc
Go for Akasa Euler (cheaper than HDPlex) fanless case and a full power (not T) recent i3. You'll have more performance than with a NUC for a smaller price - a price similar to the one of a normal, loud tower pc - plus fanless and tiny. Seriously, I've done it. These fanles miniITX cases only suppor...

You can’t get the fans to turn on for either of these 550w supplies unless you put in a high end gfx card... Both are well built. The short length of the Seasonic intrigued me. With regards to the PSU, which one would you choose, between - Seasonic Focus+ 550W Gold - Corsair RM550x In the jonnyguru review, the Seasonic scored excellent in voltage regulation/ripple suppression etc but not much info about noise volume and character once the fan kicked in (around 300W, which ...

The Kotetsu is a good choice. What's different with the new version is that they are equipping the cooler with the commercially available version of the fan; if I remember correctly in the Kotetsu review it was mentioned the fan used was not widely available. Re: Options for new office pc
Welcome back. Let me add to the confusion :) If you really wanted to stay fanless, you could: 1) stick with a 15W NUC and put it in an Akasa case. 2) pay a bit more, get a 65W TDP class CPU and mITX mobo and put it in an HDPlex case. Thank you for your reply Steve. I had been looking at these Akasa...

Wow, quite awkward though, did not come across it while searching through amazon and newegg ratings or in any review I read. That makes for a good enough case for the Hitahi 5K1000, but I would sure love to have it reviewed here and check the noise production, can't trust other ratings and surely no...

the review of the m9t should be added to the storage index article. Weird, I found the Samsung M9T 2TB less disturbing than the WD Red 1Tb when listening to the sound files. ...the Red surely enough has less volume to its noise in the beginning, but when the "whirl" starts, it is quite distinct...in...

Re: NZXT H440 Mid Tower Case
I really do think you should be testing the cases with more HDDs installed. The same way you use a modern graphics card (or at least one with lots of fans) to test the case with a hardware component that users might actually use, you should test the cases with a number of drives a modern user might...

You're gonna love this, I know I did... I can't find much i...
