Re: Repair dell da-2?

Thanks for help, but I already gave it away to a guy who's more of an expert in these things.. I did get a new one from the seller anyway, so I didn't really need this and didn't trust my electronics skills enough..

Re: Repair dell da-2?

Thanx for the info! Well, it seems to one I have doesn't have a fuse, at least I can't find it :/
It's revision A00.

Apart from changing a fuse, fixing this is way over my head.. so I'll just give it away to someone who knows how to fix these things..

Re: Repair dell da-2?

Ok, finally I had some time to tinker with this thing. Opened it up, but couldn't find a fuse.. :/ Here's a couple of pictures of the insides. Also there clearly was a burnt smell, so maybe I'll just chuck this thing.. http://img340.imageshack.us/img340/7426/img1793x.jpg [URL=http://img153.imageshac...

Re: hd 4770 with picopsu - power draw on 5v rails?

Problem solved b4 any answers :) My case is a custom one, I've built this rig into an aluminium briefcase, and to be able to fit this full-sized gpu I was using a pci express x16 riser cable. The cable was the problem, when I opened to case and hooked to card directly to the lane without that cable,...

hd 4770 with picopsu - power draw on 5v rails?

Hi, I'm using a dell da-2 (18a 12v) psu with picopsu-120 to power my rig. Now I just upgraded my gpu to a hd 4770, it used to be a hd 2400 pro. Power rails coming from dell are routed so that picopsu uses one 12v rail, P4 connector uses one and 6-pin pcie-connector for 4770 uses one. Problem: 4770 d...

htpc help: what's good with a hd 2400 pro?

Hi I'm looking to build a cheap and power efficient htpc. I've got a spare hd 2400pro from when I upgraded the gpu on my desktop, so I can use that. Can you recommend what's the minimun config for this to run mediaportal smooth? I don't really need to play full HD or BD, telly only goes up to 720p. ...

Repair dell da-2?

Hi, I bought a dell da-2 power adapter from ebay, and it's not working. I contacted the seller, and they are sending me a brand new one :) and they didn't want the old one back. So I'm wondering if it might be simple to fix. When I connect the ac cable to the adapter, the light doesn't turn amber (w...

Haha, thanks! I'm quite happy about my solution, and it does work. I actually ended up cutting the blue wires (that's the pwm signal wire) of the case fans and soldering them together with the cpu fan signal wire. Not much work, and you can measure the wires so you end up with neat wires - instead o...

Well, that was easy :)

I just plugged the two case fans into motherboards 3-pin case fan headers, and then i split the pwm-signal from cpu fan header into these two fans.
Now I have 3 fans, all are pwm-controlled, and I can read the exact speed of each fan as well :)

Hmm, lets see about making a pwm splitter The PWM splitter supplies one fan with PWM control and fan speed sensing, the others have PWM control only without fan speed sensing. Yes you could supply the power separately like Akasa, but you end up with a mess of thin fan wires. You are also dealing wi...

Hmm, lets see about making a pwm splitter, since this akasa thing seems to be out of stock everywhere. Is it like this: the splitter takes pwm control and sense from motherboard header, which would be pins #3 & 4 according to this http://pinouts.ru/Motherboard/mb_pwm_fan_pinout.shtml Take the 12v an...

What's the current draw of arctic coolings pwm fans? How much current does my mobo need to provide, if I wanna daisy chain 2 or 3 of these fans?
I couldn't find this figure at their website.

Heyhey, I found that akasa splitter from a local seller for 3 euros :) In general, is this a good idea? Who has done this? using pwn fans as case fans? What's your experience? Is this better than say just 5-volting regular case fans, or using a manual fan controller on case fans? Is it silent? Do th...

using cpu pwm control for case fans

Hi,

I have a mobo that supports pwm control on cpu, but there's no pwm control for case fans.
I thought about splitting the cpu fan control to add 2 pwm case fans to this same control.

would this work?

dell da-1 getting hot

Hi, I'm using a picopsu and dell da-1 for power. The build I'm running eats around 80-100w, depending on load. Da-1 is rated for 150w. It keeps getting pretty hot, it's still ok to touch etc, but it could run a bit cooler. I thought about opening the cover, and drilling some holes on the cover panel...

Asrock P43-ME board, any experiences?

Hi, I'm looking for a good matx board for lga775, and I could easily put in a discrete graphics card. This board looks promising, and I think for €60 it's not too bad.. http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=P43ME any experiences on this board? I haven't been able to find a review. Seems to b...

Okay, i gotta ask b4 something blows.. would it be ok to just connect the pin to a 5V source? Is the resistor very necessary? I really am not an expert when it comes to elecricity, I'm pretty much way over my head in this project.. You need a resistor to limit the current to max 20mA to be safe so ...

I did, actually all those test were done without the monitor. Doesn't budge. But after some more careful measuring, it seems to pico gives 3.3v (not 2.3) on the pwr_ok pin after startup. It seems to me that the motherboard expects 5v. Electrodacus, how is this signal with the winmate? Also, I measu...

Still not working.. I measured the voltages off the pico, especially the pwr_ok pin. This doesn't seem to be ok. The pico gives about 2.2v on pwr_ok, but my atx psu has it at around 5v. Is this picopsu simply faulty? I guess that the 5V on your PcoPSU is less than needed probably the monitor is to ...

Right, after some testing this is getting even stranger.. Test 1: I used an old 200w atx psu to power the system as follows: - connect 12v + ground from a molex to picopsu input wires (12v + ground) - connect P4 from atx psu to motherboard P4 Great, works, no problems here. Test 2: I wired the P4 co...

There is the possibility the pico and the board aren't compatible. I'd contact minibox about it. They were nice enough to talk to me over the phone when i had issues with the PW-200M. Thanks, I'll do that. So did you ever manage to resolve these issues you had, or did you end up changing to another...

Well, this is different: only the mobo doesn't start up. Brick stays on, and all the peripherals keep running (hdd, the display etc). I'll need to test if it passes both 12v and 5v to the molex connectors, but it seems to do so. I'll test the picopsu with 12v input from that atx psu, when I have the...

Hi, this is a really weird problem. The system is: intel dg45id microatx board c2d e8400 500gb 2,5" disk and i'm also powering a 17" lcd screen from a molex out (it takes 5 and 12v in) Everything works fine with a standard 200w atx psu that has an old 20-pin connector, and power draw is around 90w i...

I put in an order for Freezer 7 LP, it should fit and be silent. Should be enough to cool an E8400, esp. with some undervolting.

Wow, a lot of replies :) This is getting really interesting. There's a local shop here selling the accelero S1 for around 20 euros, I think I'll just give it a go.. if it's not gonna work, at most I've lost 20 euros, or then I can still use it as a vga cooler.. lets see how this goes :)
