Re: GTX 960 review compilation thread

I have two concerns with the Asus according to Tom's Hardware: 1) Power consumption spikes 2) Hidden VRM temps of 95°C Otherwise it may be the most quiet of the brands they reviewed. I would say - these are pretty common issues with GTX 9** series: - poor VRM cooling (Gigabyte is exception) - coil ...

Re: has anyone here used a pico-box(chinese picopsu) psu?

Guys

can you tell if someone tested psu properly?
Can it handle real 150w load? What temperature will it have during load? I heard these tend to run very hot !

Thanks

Re: Will an ASUS Z97I-PLUS work with a PicoPSU?

Guys, while discussion is abt Z97I-plus can anyone re-confirm the following: - if Scythe Kotetsu works fine with Z97I-plus - i.e. not blocking the PCI-E slot. - what are average picoPSU operating temps ? I believe they should be quite high, especially with power elements facing RAM and receive no ex...

Re: Quiet Mini-ITX Gaming Build Guide #3: BitFenix Prodigy E

iirc, I actually ran a system in the Antec ISK300 for a while, something modest with onboard graphics & the internal 65W AC/DC adapter. Not sure if that models is still available, I see the links are for the one with a 150W PSU which isn't quiet under load. Anyway, I just used a couple of quiet 80m...

Re: Quiet Mini-ITX Gaming Build Guide #3: BitFenix Prodigy E

Thanks again Mike. I think I'll go with a Phenom as it's for a 100W system so its ventilation/cooling issue doesn't matter. For a sub-100W system, why bother with such cases? Footprint is way too big, imo, unless you can justify it for a discrete VGA card. I'd go with something way smaller -- maybe...

As for VRM Im sure this is Msi Asus Palit design fault or lets say imperfection fot gtx 970. Only gigabyte g1 which has its VRM touched by same base plate th...

Re: Asus GTX970 STRIX

Guys thanks for informative tests and info ! Does anyone noticed VRM temps going high on these cards ? I've had mine up to 86 during 30 min gaming sessions which is a bit high, considering Gigabyte G1 which has its VRMs cooled by same plate that touches the GPU and they are really cool ! And after I...

In case this is not too late  : - SFX PSUs from Silverstone are relatively quiet - that means for silence freaks lurking around here - they will not be quiet enough to fit the needs. 600W Silverstone PSU is mostly the same - although having marketing "fan not spinning at low loads" - practicall...

I prefer to not to use the DVD (slim or full size) and include either 2.5" Cardreader or even end up with just couple of USB ports on the front panel. Minimization is everythin...

Hey coolhand - saw you are not using separate VGA.... After removin...
