Re: Noctua to use Active Noise Cancellation in new Fan

If you look at RotoSub's page, they have photos which allude to the concept of how the noise cancellation might. It could be a relatively simple concept that utilises the fan itself as the out of phase transducer. It appears that the inner edge of the fan frame has an electromagnetic strip which int...

I would definitely recommend going for at least the 5770 vid card for your desired resolution. The 5750 performs close to the older 4850. I have both cards and play at 1680x1050 res and a single card cannot run with all the bells and whistles effectively. I have two 5750s in CrossfireX and it does ...

Well I've suspended a 700 rpm 120mm fan about 10mm beneath the graphics card coolers and have the adjustable speed 180mm fan spinning at 900 rpm with a resultant peak temp of 91* C. That's a delta T of 14* C versus doing without the 120mm fan. Most of the time while I play Assassin's Creed, the tem...

Thanks very much for your reply! I still need to look into possibly suspending a 120mm fan under the graphics cards (I can always pull one from another case and try it out) and I need to look at my mobo's manual, but I don't think I have any other card placement options.

The airflow is from bottom to top. There is a 180mm variable Silverstone intake fan under the GPUs and a reg 180mm Silverstone intake under the CPU. The mobo temps remain good, but the best I can achieve for my GPUs is 95* C when playing Assassin's Creed while the rear fan is spinning at 1200 rpm. ...

If silence is a big part of the decision process, I can recommend the Seasonic X650 PSU. The advantage of this PSU is that the fan rarely comes on and even when it does, it is silent. I've never been able to hear my PSU, even when I've put my ear down where it mounts. Just something to think about....

Sorry for such a late post, but I have the Sony Optiarc DVD-RW and would like to say that it is very quiet for an optical drive. It's very quiet if you have it mounted well. I've mass damped my drive and made it so that it's fairly innocuous barring the occasional spin up. I highly recommend it and...

The reason for this type of article is to provide information. Most people are just curious as to how their components fare in relationship to other options. It's all about providing the readers with extra knowledge. Otherwise, it's difficult to make an informed decision about upgrades.

While my HDD is the main source of very slight noise in my PC, the optical drive, when active, is an order of magnitude louder than the HDD. It's still not particularly loud since I've massed damped it.

Are you able to obtain a Scythe Ninja 3? I'm not aware of any passive coolers that can perform as well as the Thermalright HR-01 plus. There are other active air cooling designs that will work well with the phenom IIx4 965BE if you're not going to OC. I would recommend something from the recommende...

If you're adding fans, I don't see why you couldn't also consider the Thermalright HR-01 plus w/ fan duct running passive. The duct does help with the CPU temp, but, more importantly, makes a tremendous difference on mobo temps as it doesn't allow the CPU heat to linger within the case. I don't thi...

[...] On the other hand, there are fans which measure within 1 dBA of each other, yet we have a clear, unquestionable preference for one. My quiet Maingear SHIFT

Hey everybody! I've been spending some time playing various games on my new PC and am very happy with how quiet it is. I know it's not silent, but I'd have to do some mods to make it any quieter. The people at Maingear listened to my needs and worked hard to provide me with a good system. The SHIFT...

I have passive cooled 5750s and they have RAMsinks on the ba...
