My WD10EARS also makes a buzzing sound sometimes. I have no idea why. Does anyone know? My WD 1.5 EARS is very silent. Well I have a WD10EADS-00M2B0 and the sound is definitely audible. The "how" part is very subjective. I used the firmware hack to change head-parking time longer so it wouldn't do this.
