Re: Possible to underclock a i3 by BLCK@66MHz

Was sleepy and typed a wrong power fomula !!! Managed to get the RMClock working !!! And here is the result, Ambient: 18degC Stock V+MHz (1.285V/2.5G): idle: 25W from device (pf 0.4) prime95: 48W cpu: 55degC Stock V+MHz, disable EIST in BIOS (1.285V/1.2G): idle: 25W from device (pf 0.4) prime95: 39...

ASIC TDPs are rated differently than CPUs at AMD. They've also changed slightly from generation to generation and from NB to SB. For instance, for AMD SBs it's: " TDP: Thermal Design Power (TDP) is defined as the highest power dissipated while running currently available worst case applications at n...

Yep, your points are true realities. I remember arguing the required power trends and power band offerings on Jons forum back in 2007 along with Mike :P But there is one critical aspect seesawing all this: certain parts aren't manufactured due to high costs only when the demand is small - the niche ...

Darn, nice review, brill power supply as hoped but 4x price that I paid for SS S12 II 330W (!) Every focus is diverging to lower cost, lower power/small form factor/mobile, as quick as possible, so why don't SS make a 150-250W as such for that market? It's been a while since I last checked their OEM...

I'm not sure how the 'e' chips would weigh down on me if I hadn't picked up all three of my X2 235/235/240 'e' purchases at 25-30 quid; Sempron 140 prices, 2-3 weeks before the official launch. There was nothing that could touch them at such cost. Some 'e' designated chips are well binned and not ju...

SO-DIMM again... I was really interested in this this 785G board of theirs too but there was absolutely no details, reviews or user feedback around for me to get any idea on it. So it wasn't purchased although I've still kept an eye on it. J&W, you really need to improve Western supply and review sa...

So you are willing to get 400 psu, to with 40W load, interesting, Yep. 1. Assumption: If it's designed for 300-400W passive, it can run lower watts with less heat output, easier (and since it is passive, I expect good suitability for low airflow system designs as well as good efficiency lower down)...

The 400W is one I'm extremely interested to see 20W, 30W and 40W DC load tests of. The rest doesn't benefit anything to me. Can't say that I'm not saddened with no standard ATX 180-300W 80Plus designs being shown off and bragged about at such limelight shows.

Can't tell ya about that particular CPU and setup due to what Mike mentioned -- but adding to Mikes very good points -- running even a semi-decent fan at 500-600 RPM will help everything tremendously and it won't be audible at sitting distance unless your room+system is extremely quiet. I run two mu...

There is considerable power difference using a single vs. dual place board as the internal CPU component voltages are higher in the single plane along with the current draw on each CPU rail... nor do they support PSI, nor C1E, nor the lower P-States. The difference is lower however for the L3-less c...

Sub 8W DC for the E4400 in LFM providing everything is running as it should and sub 45 degrees C. Transistor power has a direct dependency on temperature so the power consumption of any chip will be higher at higher operating temperatures. The 45nm low-end Wolfdale based silicon gets down to sub 4W ...
