Re: Recommend quieter HD than WD Caviar Blacks?

Ok I'll try this out. Also, what about a pair of quieter hard drives? I had a look at the SilentPC 'Recommended Hard Drive' round up from April 2010 and the Samsung F1 750gb and Western Digital SE16 Caviar 640gb came up top. As this is two and a half years old, are there any newer hard drives that o...

Re: Recommend quieter HD than WD Caviar Blacks?

Hi, Sorry for not getting back to this thread. I am intending to use the hard drives for pro audio in a recording studio. I would like something that can load large files/samples quickly and be at least as fast as my Caviar Blacks but be quieter? This is the case I have for my PC :- http://www.fract...

Recommend quieter HD than WD Caviar Blacks?

Hi, I'm looking to replace my current WD Caviar Black HD's and would like something that has similar performance but quieter!? I use my computer in a small recording studio and the mixing room which has the computer is very small. As a result I need a computer that is practically silent yet fast and...

try this -- http://hddscan.com/ It will only affect seek/write noise, btw, not idle. Thanks I'll try this a diy suspension would be way better. How do I do this? You might consider the Seasonic x-400 fanless. No fan to get noisy over time. But w/ 2 relatively noisy drives, the PSU change will only ...

Yes I think I'll be getting a Enermax Modu87 500gb to replace my current PSU. I could consider getting a Kingston KTC 30GB SSD drive but the cost £64 for 30GB. To be honest I haven't tried running my current Caviar Blacks in AAM and don't know how to do this? Any advice? I'm probably going to stick...

Do you have 2 WD black in RAID or just as two single drives? Hi, I'm not sure what RAID means so I guess not!? Yes I would need around 1TB due to loads of massive sample libraries and projects! I also need the hard drives to be fast due to the use of lots of VST's! Hmm perhaps I should just stick w...

Recommend new hard-drives for studio audio pc?

Hi, I currently have a pair of Western Digital 500GB Caviar Blacks which are fast but noisy! I run Cubase 5.5.1 on Windows 7 64bit and use lots of large sample libraries so I'm guessing I still need something pretty fast? I would like something that's 500gb, extremely quiet, fast and around £50 eac...

Ok guys I've been trying a few things out and tested some stuff and it turns out that the PSU and hard-drives are the source of the noise. My hard-drives are 2x 500gb WD Caviar Blacks. Hmm looks like I need to get a pair of new hard-drives aswell as a new PSU. The problem with my case is it only has...

Corsair say they don't have a spec sheet for the HX450.

Hi, Thanks for the reply. I thought my Corsair HX450 was the noisiest component in my PC. My hard drives do have some rubber pads on the shelves that isolate them vibrating from the case but there is still a little noise from them. The cpu fan is a Gelid Tranquillo which is extremely quiet and as fa...
