Re: DAW pc (around 1000 euro)

another question, is there a difference between a case fan and a cpu fan? Re: DAW pc (around 1000 euro)

How do I know whether it is possible to connect two screens (at best with DVI)?
for example with the Asus EAH5450 SILENT?

PSU: Seasonic X passive or the Enermax Modu87+ 500W (active)? What do you think or feel?

Re: DAW pc (around 1000 euro)

@boost, how do you know it will be January, not April for instance?

Thanks!

What about the Nexus 120mm Real Silent case fan?

And what is a good active PSU for this setup? edit: Enermax Modu87+ 500W ?

DAW pc (around 1000 euro)

Hi, I'm gathering components together for a friend who wants to have a silent pc for audio (especially DSP processing). He is planning to use a pci RME audiocard. Please shoot on this setup: case: Antec 183 PSU: Seasonic X-460, 460Watt, Fanless, ATX What is a good PSU WITH fan? Mobo: Asus P6T SE, S1...

Hmm that seems to be a complex problem, at least to define it... A google search show that asus p55 boards have problems with it, but so do other brands...

I was picking the asus cause it should work with M-AUDIO, it has firewire and 3 x pci

Hmm

@MikeC, hmm SSD, I will think about it, thanks.
A little problem, I will use a dualboot with 2 Linux distro's, so I might need more gb's.
The plan was to wait a year, till ssd will get cheaper.

What do you think about the rest of the setup as a 'silent guru'? ;)

Yeah you said that... hmm but it's silent... Is there a silent alternative?

What is your opinion on the rest of the setup?

Looks like it's gonna be a antec solo case with a seasonic x-460 passive psu.
Here is my proposed setup. Feel free to shoot, there:

Antec solo + Prolimatech Megahalems + ?

Hi,

I was planning to cool my i5 760 processor with a Prolimatech Megahalems in the antec solo. Can I put a Nexus 120mm Real Silent case fan, 500-2000rpm, PWM on it?
I can use the same fan as rear case fan?

Hmm thanks. You also pay for 5 years warranty... I just realised that the Seasonic X-650 is a cross between passive and active cooling, and the x-400 is just fanless. Let me think about it... What is a good psu with fan, now the nexus seems not be optimal these days and the enermax seems to have iss...

Have you thought about using the Seasonic X-series power supplies; such as the fanless ones? (someone mentioned it before) Similar ones are the Enermax 87+ PSUs, and other 80+ Gold efficiency rated power supplies. I like that when doing very little you don't get much noise; I can live with noise if...

Hmm was really doubting about the case. I believe a p183 is the most safe way to get a silent pc, but I think it's to big. The factal design R3 seems to be a good alternative, but I read some experience users still prefer the solo above the R3. So I might go for the solo then, you have to make choic...

The antec Solo, with a psu with fan (Seasonic S12II, 380Watt, ATX for example), with a i5 570. Will it be a silent pc? No, it should be quiet enough for almost any office environment: in a more silent place, you should clearly hear at least that PSU (21dB at idle/low-mid load are really annoying, i...

Uh you're comparing still with the solo? I thought, that way is closed, because it's better to have psu (with fan) on the bottom.

This might be a better psu then: Enermax Modu 82+ 425W at around 13 dBA or the Nexus Value Compact Real Silent, 430Watt, ATX

So then it's p183 vs Fractal Design Define R3 ... bottom psu

edit: but a SSD will remove the disadvantage of the hdd noise in the R3 ...
edit: I also wonder how much the R3 improved compared to the R2, also in the aspect you're mentioning (cabling, hdd)

I'm afraid we're straying from the actual topic of this thread. The advantage of the i3 is not only IGP... It's fast, has Hyper Threading, is cheaper. And you can use the i3 with an video card, like you can do with the i5.

I see that the party has moved elsewhere. Right, glad you found it :) I still don't think 2.5" drives are a good idea for a DAW. Why don't you think a fanless PSU is good in a antec solo for a DAW station? I don't know what you exactly mean for a DAW station. For music production, but also as normal workstation | workhorse. Surely the Solo is quieter out of the box, and it has top mounted PSU, which is better for a fanless P...
