I recently got the Samsung F4EG, the drive is relatively quiet in operation but I've never heard a spin up noise like this from a drive before. It's loud and annoying, are all F4EG drives like this?

Corsair VX 450W - Is this noise normal?
Hi all, I've had the Corsair VX 450W for about a year now, it's always made this electrical noise from new. I thought originally it was the fan but it appears to be the electrical components. It's only becoming an issue now that I am making efforts to get my PC as quiet as possible. Is this noise no...

Re: Looking for reliable 2.5tb or 3tb drive for external bac
Thanks for your speedy replies guys. I think I will go for 2TB, more choice and they're cheaper than I thought. Do i go for the marginal increase in reliability of a 3 platter drive like the Samsung (but accept reduced speed with SATA II) or do I future proof where speed is concerned and go for the ...

Looking for reliable 2.5tb or 3tb drive for external backup
I was looking at 3TB drives initially but the cost per mb is still quite high. 2.5TB seems to be the best bang for your buck (or pound in my case). Has anyone got any recommendations? Reliability and being quiet and cool are my main criteria. I'm looking at 3.5" only and I'm going to put it in an ex...

Fan Controller recommendations for 3 & 4 pin fans?
I've been looking at fan controllers, not all of them do 3pin & 4pin fans. I need one that will control my 4pin CPU fan as well as my 2x 3pin case fans. I'd like one that shows RPM's, has automatic and manual control and only takes up 1 5.25" bay (as I have an Antec P180 mini case). Here's what I've...

Re: Cannot get my CPU fan below 1200RPM despite low temps
I have some software that came with the Asus motherboard for monitoring temps, fans speeds etc. It generally reports the same temps as Speedfan, give or take a degree. Although if they're both getting their information from the same sensor then I guess that doesn't mean it's anymore reliable. I may ...

Re: Cannot get my CPU fan below 1200RPM despite low temps
Ok we're getting somewhere! There were 4 settings for each PWM mode under the advanced tab. Unfortunately none of them gave me control over the fan. But I decided to google what the difference was between the 4 settings (Manual PWM Control, Thermal Cruise, Fan Speed Cruise, Smart Fan III). I ended u...

Re: Cannot get my CPU fan below 1200RPM despite low temps
I have two options in the dropdown menu under the advanced tab. Winbond and Intel, I've included both although I'm sure the Intel one isn't relevant. Fan Xpert wont take the fan below 1200+rpm again. Strange how it works one time and not the other, must be a dodgy fan. Although from what I've read F...

Re: Cannot get my CPU fan below 1200RPM despite low temps
Thanks very much for your help dhanson! I realised after my last BIOS update (on latest version) that I hadn't re-enabled the CPU fan control. So at least using Fan Xpert I can now get a lower RPM. However I still cannot get Speedfan to work. I've attached the screenshots as requested. I do think my...

Cannot get my CPU fan below 1200RPM despite low temps
I'm having a problem with my cpu fan speed and it's frustrating the heck out of me. I have a Scythe Mugen Rev B. heatsink with the included Scythe Fan fitted on a Core i3 550. When I first put the system together my CPU Fan RPM speed would idle below 500rpm (Using Asus Fan Xpert). After a month, the...

HD 5450 or HD 5670?
I'm looking for a dedicated GPU to go with the following spec Asus P7H55D-M EVO Core i3 550 4gb Kingston Hyperblue 1600mhz Antec P180 Mini Corsair VX450W It's mainly for Photoshop, Lightroom with some very occasional video encoding. Re: Need new GPU card, not a gamer but something decent
The 210 is too slow to be of any use in those apps, he might as well pick an Ati card at that point. If you can afford the cheapest GTS 450 available, then it will be a solid choice. Otherwise, if you value silence, a passive HD5670 will be perfect and cheap enough to recommend. I'm also looking fo...

Scythe Kabuto or Shuriken Rev B for my mATX system?
Hi all, First post here but been reading up for a while. I'm building a new system but I'm no expert. I'd like your opinion on CPU coolers please. My system will be Antec Mini P180 Case OCZ 500W Mod XStream Pro PSU (may change PSU) ASUS P7H55D-M EVO or Gigabyte H55M-USB3 Mobo Core i3-550 or Core i5-...
