Re: FD Define R4 airflow thru bottom vents when on a rug?

The usual solution is this situation is to buy a shelf of the right size from a DIY store and use it as a hard surface between the case and the carpet. Apart from avoiding any issues with airflow it should also mean that the bottom filter will need little or no additional cleaning. Oh. Of course. *...

FD Define R4 airflow thru bottom vents when on a rug?

I've been thinking of replacing my antec p150 with a Fractal Design Define R4 (for bigger and power hungrier video cards), but I haven't been able to find out if there will still be enough air flow when its put on a rug. Is this going to be a problem?

Re: Upgrading mobo/cpu/ram

Core i3s really overclock like crazy. My 530 (2.93 stock clock) runs at 4.4 without even raising the voltage. I just upped the BCLK from 133 to 200 and that was that. I use the MSI H55M-E55 Micro-ATX board. SpeedFan can control 3 of its 4 fan headers, but the 4-pin header can only control a 4-pin (...

Re: Upgrading mobo/cpu/ram

Looks good overall (though I'd go with AMD for more performance for my buck). Does your GPU have a good quiet cooler? I was considering going with AMD, but the heat from my computer makes my room too hot during the summer as it is (on top of being hot summer weather and before upgrading from an x13...

Upgrading mobo/cpu/ram

(edited 1/2/2010, added case to list of current parts) I'm planning on upgrading my computer from an old Athlon 64 x2 3800+ (89w part according to wikipedia), ASUS A8R-MVP, 2 GB ram to something a bit more current. I'm gonna keep my current gpu (5750 1GB, low res gaming), hds ( 500GB Spinpoint f1, 1...

Re: PowerColor AX5750 1GBD5-HV2?

It is in fact quiet. Took me a while to get it working, though. Now that it is, I find its quiet, but I don't like quality of the noise it makes. Reducing fan speed via ati overdrive did not work and neither did editing the card's bios. I figure I'll buy a fan extension cable and add a small resisto...

Quiet Fan
Yeah, but who knows how loud the rest of his computer is? Here, I know anyone who says something is quiet, really knows what quiet actually means.

PowerColor AX5750 1GBD5-HV2?

I'm considering getting a PowerColor AX5750 1GBD5-HV2, since its only $90 AR at newegg. Anybody know how noisy it is? If there's something else you recommend I'd certainly like to hear about it, too. However, I do need a vga port.
