Re: Asus P8Z77-V Pro: Xpert Fan Control for LGA1155

Good thing if true. Only reason i bought the Gene V instead of a simple Z77 was for the fan control of fan xpert 2. Well, it's definitely true for the P8Z77M-Pro. Except I had the issue I had to manually reload the fanprofile on every reboot. But I've read the same is true for boards that officiall...

Re: Thermalright HR-02 Macho Quiet/Fanless Cooler

Ok, I'll narrow my 'Europe' down to 'The Netherlands'. I also too a bit closer look and of the stores selling Thermalright about half of them has stock (or rather their supplier has stock) and the other half does not. Hard to tell what's going on exactly, but I did notice normal HR-02 at very low pr...

Re: Thermalright HR-02 Macho Quiet/Fanless Cooler

What has happened to all the Thermalright stock ? On Newegg (.Ca and .Com) they are listed as out of stock and deactivated for MONTHS now, or close to a year. On NCIX, they are not being restocked, and models are one by one discontinued. Is the company going under ? I noticed that too. Seems only A...

Re: Asus P8Z77-V Pro: Xpert Fan Control for LGA1155

Do you have any idea of which motherboards can use Fan Xpert 2 the same way as your motherboard? Sorry for the late reply, but my assumption is that FanXpert 2 works with every Asus motherboard, at least the Z77/H77 range. Possibly Z68/H67 too, but it's real easy to download and try for yourself. D...

Re: Asus P8Z77-V Pro: Xpert Fan Control for LGA1155

Hm all my reported voltages were AIDA64 voltages, not BIOS voltages. Maybe its something special with your motherboard? I had the same experience as here: http://www.anandtech.com/show/5763/undervolting-and-overclocking-on-ivy-bridge Where I had instability below 0.9V. Unless you have a special pro...

Re: DH61DL Compatibility

I'm not sure the 3770S and 3770T are actually being sold already, but I am sure they will both work with your board.

You don't need a new cpu for a bios update. Just update the bios using your old cpu, then pop in new cpu.

Re: Asus P8Z77-V Pro: Xpert Fan Control for LGA1155

Thanks for the comprehensive report sssttt. I have some Scythe 120mm PWM fans on the way and it will be interesting to see if they will be quiet with the minimum values permitted in Fan Xpert2. If not, I guess it's back to my trusty old fanmated Nexus 120mm fans. Welcome. And yep, like I said it de...

Re: Asus P8Z77-V Pro: Xpert Fan Control for LGA1155

I have an Asus P8Z77-M Pro mATX motherboard. My case is a Lian Li PC-7FN with one 140mm 1000rpm fan in the front and one 120mm 1300rpm fan in the back. Cpu cooler is a HR-02 with one TY-140 fan. The motherboard has 1 cpu fanheader and 3 casefanheaders. The cpu fan header can only control pwm fans. T...

Re: Best z68 motherboard for fan managment?

It's nice to see 2 cpu headers for push/pull, but maybe let us control both You can run two CPU fans off the CPU1 header by using the daisy-chain feature of the AC12 PWM fan (use another header for the second fan sense line). But why would anyone on SPCR want to do push-pull?! A single slow fan on ...

Re: Best z68 motherboard for fan managment?

Excellent, thanks for this information. I wish this was included in every mobo review. Slightly disappointed though about the fact there's not too many options for 3-pin fans. It's nice to see 2 cpu headers for push/pull, but maybe let us control both too? Also a bit weird cha3 can be controlled but...

Re: Best z68 motherboard for fan managment?

Try Intel boards - judging by what Burrage ( clicky ) lets you do, I'd say Intel's Z68 boards will be equally good. AFAIK GB boards only let you control 2 fan headers - CPU_fan in full range, sys_fan to a limited range. Can't guarantee that as I only connect the Ninja's fan to the 4-pin header and ...

Re: WD10EALX + Speedfan trouble

Can I ask, is this suspension only possible because the Lian Li has wider 3.5" bays than normal, or will I be able to do this in almost any case? I don't think it would be possible with the new Lian Li drivecage system where the screws are inserted into hdd itself. If available you could use a 5.25...

Re: WD10EALX + Speedfan trouble

Ok, I went with the elastic suspension method and the result is simply amazing. Not a single vibration is transmitted to the case anymore, completely solving my problem with this drive. The Lian Li drive cage system wasn't able to surpress the vibrations at all but at least it's fairly well suited f...

Re: News for 2011-02-23

Did you include motherboard prices? You can't just buy a X4 645 or i3 2100 and let it hang in mid air. Also, kinda meaningless without the mobo in the equation. Although it would be nice to see a X4 645 or i3 2100 hanging in mid air, I was just trying to find out how AMD decided the matchups in the...

Re: News for 2011-02-23

"6 Cores for the price of their 4 Cores" Yeah, but you really need them against their 4. About the comparison table, I did a quick price check (prices in euros): X6 1100T + HD 6850: 250+150 = 350 Core i7 2600K: 275 X6 1090T + HD 5750: 195+100 = 295 Core i5 2500K: 195 X4 840 + HD 5670: 85+75 = 160 Co...

Re: Sandy Bridge, Part 2: Intel DH67BL & Asus P8H67-M EVO

Well, that's an option in some situations. But ofcourse you sacrifice a fanheader, the amount of which can't exactly be called plentiful in the first place. Point is, if you want speedcontrol on more than 1 fan, you'll need at least 1 pwm one. From looking at the specs, when it comes to fancontrol i...

No, the issue is not Speedfan, that's clear to me now but thanks for the explanation. I'd change the subject to "WD10EALX vibrating like mad" if I would post now. But on a side note, I wonder how many people use Speedfan without knowing the hdd temp reading never allows their drives to idle...or HWm...

Re: WD10EALX + Speedfan trouble

It would have been nice if Speedfan had given a little warning about this though. It probably did by reading HDD temps in excess of 30c, which would not be the case if the disk was spun down. ;) Well, actually my hdd temps were kinda ok...depending on the situation between something like 27-28 and ...

Alright good suggestion, that does the trick. But still not completely satisfactory since I have no problems reading out temperatures from my other disks (although, maybe they're just too silent for me to notice the upspinning). Also, my casefan speeds are based on hdd temperatures, obviously that w...

WD10EALX + Speedfan trouble

Hello everyone, I recently bought a Western Digital WD10EALX Caviar Blue hdd and I'm experiencing a very annoying problem: every couple minutes or so the drive spins up for a while before going back to idle, even if there is no activity at all on the disk (it's a data disk, indexing disabled). It's ...
