Re: Noctua releases NH-D15
Any ideas on when this will actually become available in the U.S.? I want to use this for a new build but can't find anywhere that I can even place a preorder at.

Re: ASUS Z87-Deluxe fake 4-pin headers & other fan control i
It looks like the new Asus Z97 motherboards may now have multiple real PWM fan headers. Not sure if I believe it, and looking forward to the boards being released so this can be confirmed. Upgraded Fan Controls ASUS Z97 motherboards feature full Pulse Wave Modulation (PWM) on all fan headers (4 pin)...

Re: Mitigating against dangers of huge CPU coolers
Would a size other than ATX work better? The smaller, the stiffer. Do you think it would be a reasonable choice to use a Micro Atx motherboard for precisely this reason even if using a larger case such as the Define R4? For my purposes, Micro ATX would be fine as I'm likely never gonna use more tha...

Mitigating against dangers of huge CPU coolers
So I'm thinking about putting together a silent-ish system in a Fractal Define R4 case, and am eyeing the new Noctua DH-NH15 cooler (assuming it will become readily available soon). One thing that is giving me pause is that it weighs 1320 grams, close to 100 grams more than its predecessor the DH-NH...

Does Puget no longer offer a SPCR certified system?
I am in the market for a new system and see that none of their current Serenity line has SPCR attached to it. Also noticed that they no longer use the Antec P183. That case was getting really really old so no surprise there, but it's slightly disappointing to find no writeups on any of their current...

Re: Does Powercolor HD6850 fit into Antec Fusion?
I too own an Antec NSK2480 Fusion case and am wondering if the 560TI Twin Frozr is still the fastest performing card that will fit inside the case w/o mods. I can't seem to find any other cards with power connectors on the end of the card instead of the top - the low ceiling height of the case seems...

Re: Slipstream SH model and Asus fan controls
AFAIK the Asus boards can only control PWM fans (4-pin), not voltage-controlled fans (3-pin). At least that's the case with my two Asus boards, a Rampage Gene (X58/Nehalem) and a P8P67 (Sandy Bridge). I generally use an external fan controller, they work with either kind of fan. I suspected somethi...

Slipstream SH model and Asus fan controls
I recently purchased parts for a new build that I will be assembling tomorrow, and have some questions about the case fans I bought. My rig will be a P183 case with an i5-2500k on the new Asus P8Z68-V Pro motherboard. I also bought a Gelid Tranquillo CPU cooler, three Slipstream SY1225SL12SH fans, a...

Re: USB3 at front of Antec P183?
I tried a search to see if someone else has posted this and found nothing. I just received a P183 case from Newegg and noticed that it has a front USB 3.0 port on it. Is this a brand new change in their product?

Thanks for the info about your P183 fan setup. That's great to hear!
My parts are shipping today, so looking forward to assembling later this week or weekend.

Re: need help with i7-2600k/6950 2GB based multipurpose comp
Thanks for all the replies. My posts are taking 12-24 hours to be approved by the moderated, and in the meanwhile I've been doing tons of reading up and changing my system parts. Already listed the exact sorts of things I plan to do with the computer in a prior post, which should justify a little mo...

Re: need help with i7-2600k/6950 2GB based multipurpose comp
I'm sorry, was too careless with my description of "general use". I should have said multi-purpose. Things I will do with this computer include: -watch dvd's, blu-rays and occasionally netflix streaming, hooked up to my home theater (1080pHDTV and 5.1 receiver/speaker setup - I have a PS3 that I may...

Re: need help with i7-2600k/6950 2GB based multipurpose comp
By the time my first post was approved, I had already done more research, discovered some mistakes in my first choice, and more or less decided on a new case, power supply and graphics card. I somehow got confused about the 600T case - it doesn't have sound dampening panels at all - and the P183 is ...

need help with i7-2600k/6950 2GB based multipurpose computer
Hello everyone, this is my first post here at silentpcreview, having lurked about on and off through the years. I'm hoping to get opinions on how well you think this general use computer will work out acoustics-wise. Most of its use will not involve load on the graphics card, and when it does, sound...
