my kaze master fan sometimes gives the wrong readings. Ususally happens in the middle of using the computer, other times it doesn't I had a problem before where my power cable to the kazer master burnt up. Not the PSU cables but ust the molex to kaze master cable burnt (scythe posted me a replacemen...

Re: quietest fan for veritcal placement (front intake).

Photo Without the intake fans, the GPU fans are always groaning because they're spinning up fast even without running games. Could be due to youtube videos or movies triggering GPU acceleration and warming it up? Also, have a play with the fan speed curve using MSI Afterburner (or a similar program...

Re: quietest fan for veritcal placement (front intake).

II ask because I've heard that having obstructions before or after the fans can affect it's performance drastically. In this case there will be obstructions before. The hard drives don't need a lot of air current... and the slower the current, the lesser the effect that obstructions will have on th...

Re: quietest fan for veritcal placement (front intake).

thanks for the speedy response Just looked these up, their odd shape isn't going to fit inside my case, it's for the front intake so it has to be conventional square shape. I can get these used for half price from another member on a different board that I'm a member of. http://www.quietpc.com/gb-en...

quietest fan for veritcal placement (front intake).

I'm going to place the fans deeper into the case, so instead of being in front of the hard drives, they will be place behind the harddrives. nice, this pump is really cheap in the used market, saw one go for £20. is the MCP350 suitable for a 240mm radiator. I have this radiator http://www.watercoolinguk.co.uk/p/Therm ... m_913.html that I bought used for £35.

It is huge 50mm thick.

silent psu for my build

I've read about seasonic x series PSUs apparantly they are completely passive up at up to 25% load. My current setup draws 180w from the mains on idle, so according to that I should 720w at a minimum. I'm trying to be economical too. So I was wonder how strict is this 25% rule. And would the 660w ve...

Re: King Mod noise damping kits

I couldn't insulate my entire case using the be quiet large kit. (The p280 is massive). SO I need an alternative. the king mot doesn't have the hard bitumous material which is a dealbreaker for me. For what I read in their sales ad, it's just foam and fabric membrane material at the top? Am I right?...

I thought Americans had them already, UK site says 550d available on 8th feb. Its even on preorder, and 8th feb is rapidly coming close, im sure if the were unable to meet that date they would have known about it and updated the site by now. Is Corsair a German company? maybe that's the European bia...

I've got my p280 delivered and sitting in my room. I bought it with a be quiet silencing mats, i bought a large pack but unfortunately the large pack wasn't enough to cover everything. I only managed to cover the side panels front and half the floor. I know that it;s going to be tricky to install th...

Re: can any cheap foamy plastic material be used for damping

I think you're right mkk, experienece very little dampening, although the noise is slightly less intrusive with the absense of the high pitch sound. I just ordered the p280, mainly for the USB 3 and the sideways hard drives which makes the case much more neater. But I'm gonna to still mod the antec ...

update: just cut up the yoga mat, the top and button of the case doors close in as show below http://i.imgur.com/xmhbo.jpg So I just cut the squares and slotted them in. to be honest I don't think the improvement is noticable at all, at the moment the boiler is making noise and there's traffic noise...

Re: can any cheap foamy plastic material be used for damping

Generally though as far as quiet computing goes I'd be more slightly inclined to bet on the P280 for what I've seen so far. What makes you say that? I was thinking that the floor intake and a hydrocool push pull configuration on the rear of the 500d would provide ample cooling with the top and side...

now you've got me worried with the static comment. how likely is it that there will be static from the plastic foam? Also i was thinking of taping up the case door with 1 roll of duct tape instead. i have some of these lying around that are useless to tape anything in a meaningful way so i want to u...

can any cheap foamy plastic material be used for damping[?]

I'm holding out for thr 500d obsidion to be released in the UK, but even then I'm waiting for some side by side reviews between the 500d and p280 to come out so i can get the best one, i;ve got a feeling that the front intake for the 500d is going to be really poor also if yuo do install top or side...

Re: Corsair Obsidian 550D = P280 done right?

id like to see some reviews first, it looks to me like there is very little gaps at the front (if any) for airflow. there is a fan filter and then another plastic grill (with tiny slits for air) and then the front door which doesn't seem to have many air gaps to be honest.

can a antec 300 case be modded enough to get good silence?

I'm looking at either buying a new 550d or modding an antec300. I was wodnering whether modding it will yield a good enough silence performance? if not then I'll just get a new case. here's a case mod on youtube of the antec 300. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4aYsZzI1aMQ If i choose the mod route I...

Well, Sandy Bridge beats Llano right? I'm at 16.4W with my system and that's not very impressive either since others can do better. Atom is not very impressive at idle. It's low power at full load though. sandy runs hot, amd tend to run cooler, that was the whole reason why the guy used amd I think...

Re: HP MicroServer

i had that, the psu that it came with (1U) was quite noisy, I replaced it with a 160w picopsu.. I would have got a cheaper 90w version had I known the true usage (35w). I would recommend a pico rather than an internal 1u psu, because I'd imagine a passive psu will get hot and raise the internal term...

Re: Corsair CX400 vs Corsair CX430, CX500, CX600

is it easy to do a fan swap for these? I suspect it could be emitting a lot of noise.

Do the replacement fans just clip in or do they require soldering and stuff?

Re: HP MicroServer

The article on quietening the micro server fan was decent enough, it went to great lengths to measure the difference in noise between the stock and scythe fans. My only gripe with is is that the owner/writer seemed to have missed out on the major noise producer on this device, I believe the PSU fans...
