Corsair Force 3, Are these speed too low ?

Hello All, I recently bought this SSD (the 120GB version) for $125 here in Canada. I installed windows 7 x64 in it and everything is fast and snappy, however I think my speeds are too low compared to what reviewr are getting. My motherboard (ASRock 970 Extreme3) is SATA 3 capable, and SATA mode is s...

Re: Advice on PSU (Horror story inside)

Also, the PSU metal case and the watercooler radiator are touching each other, that might have aggravated everything(heat transfer), and this must be why the water-cooler wasn't really cooling the CPU. Before swapping the Radeon 6870 for the 6950, adding the 2x DDR3 sticks and modifying(installing t...

Advice on PSU (Horror story inside)

Hey guys, Last weekend I upgraded all parts of my computer, except my Case and PSU(bad idea). The new configuration was an FX 6100 CPU, Radeon 6870 GPU, 2 x 4GB DDR3, 2 x 7200RPM HDDs, 1 x SSD, Antec Water-cooler Kit. This was running fine on my 2 yrs old 500W Mastercooler PSU. Yesterday I decided t...

Nevermind, I found the answer here: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=21533

It's not harmful for recent drives.

Re: Barracuda Green vs Caviar Green (2Tb)

I first bought the Seagate 2TB green, but now I returned it an installed the WD Green 2TB which is considerably more silent, specially the "tac tac" noise that the needle makes. I also suspended the WD Green and didn't try it attached "normally".

HD is suspended but not 100% horizontally, is it harmful ?

My HDD is suspended but it ended up kind of like this (Look at the the top HDD): http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d155/Fat_bloater_dave/HD%20Sus/HDsuspension.jpg (This is not my picture, just a random picture I found somewhere else) It's a WD Green 2TB. Is that harmful at all ? I read somewhere tha...

Re: Removing power supply fan, is it unsafe ?

Hey guys, I did some more testing and I found out that the PSU fan is actually very quiet, I would even say silent. When I manually stop it from running I can't hear the difference and that's with the case open. I added some eggs carton on the inside where the front fan use to be at and some on the ...

Re: Removing power supply fan, is it unsafe ?

Hi, I helped a friend silence his Antec Fusion based HTPC. It's a thinner Micro Fusion case but it has a TFX (or there abouts PSU) in it and the PSU fan very quickly became the major stumbling point. Those are good "schematics". I'm gonna try a simpler solution first, I wanna use the rubber things ...

Re: Removing power supply fan, is it unsafe ?

Thanks for the reply. As for your choice of fans I'd go with Nexus Real Silent - hi quality low noise fan, tested by SPCR . My motherboard has "PWM", how about this one: http://canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=8_130&item_id=040015 Wouldn't that eliminate the need to undervolt the fan "phys...

Re: Removing power supply fan, is it unsafe ?

Hey guys, thanks a lot for the replies. I tried to reply this morning but somehow my message didn't get posted. I already bought a Western Digital Green to replaced the Seagate Green (still within return period), I will suspend it, hopefully this will help. The 120mm fan at the front is not even run...

I replaced that Antec fan on the side by a Noctua and I'm running it at 700rpm. It's almost silent.

Re: Removing power supply fan, is it unsafe ?

The 120mm fan at the front has been disabled since the beginning, I get 46 degrees on the CPU and about 40 degrees on the mobo when running prime95 for a long time. I already did tests stopping the Noctua fan on the watercooler and the noise pratically didn't change, which leads me to believe it's t...

Removing power supply fan, is it unsafe ?

Hello all, First of all I'm glad this website/forum exists, my family and friends have called me crazy for going through a lot trouble in order to make my computer silent. I now know that I'm not alone. I built an HTPC an recorded a video about it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FuiDSAg1l54 At first...
