San Ace datasheet specs, are they accurate?
I'm looking for an 80 x 25 mm fan to use in a 2U server chassis. I currently use two old panaflo l1a fans that don't move quite enough air under load. What I would like is a good modern pwm fan to replace them. I've been looking at the San Ace 80mm GA series, specifically the 9GA0824P4H001: http://w...

Re: Noctua NH-L9i Low Profile CPU Cooler
If the heatsink's fins are super tight I wonder how a fan with high static pressure would do. Dare I say 92mm Gentle Typhoon?

Re: PC Power & Cooling Silencer Mk III 400W
I'm glad you like it. I've been pleased with mine, especially the price. Kind of off topic, have you noticed how much it looks like Seasonic's new budget gold line: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Seasonic/G550/3.html I guess it makes sense with the same OEM and all. They would make for a handsom...

Re: PC Power & Cooling Silencer Mk III 400W
I have one in my NAS pushing a pretty low load: 60-90w most of the time. It's pretty darn quite, but not absolutely silent. Fortunately, I never draw enough power to get to where the reviewers were complaining about noise. In my NAS right now: a Hitachi 5K3000 seeking is loudest, then the Gelid Slim...

Re: Seasonic G series - 360W gold for $60
Very cool. I got a 400W Silencer Mk III (a re-branded S12II by PC Power and Cooling) for my NAS a couple of months back for $30. Researching that PSU made me lust after a new Gold PSU by Seasonic or Superflower for my desktop, but the ~$120 price tag was tough to swallow. The upcoming 550W version m...

Re: Seasonic SS-350TGM 80 Plus Gold TFX
I've seen a little, just a little about Seasonic's Flex ATX PSUs like the SS250-SU. Has anyone seen any professional writeups on them? I think one might be a good option for quieting my Elite 100.

Passive airflow w/ modders mesh and foam filter?
I've seen case mods with large holes covered with, or entire case panels of modders mesh; however I do not feel comfortable with my hardware that exposed. Which leads to my question: What kind of natural air flow could one expect through a large mesh opening with an a/c type foam filter? In my exper...

Re: Quiet 80mm fans for hard drive cages.
Either of these should be good: Noctua NF-R8-1800 80mm Case Fan http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835608006 Nexus 800mm http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007998%2050012558%20600035580&IsNodeId=1&name=Nexus I've noticed some people are super stanch de...

Re: Quiet 80mm fans for hard drive cages.
Yep, both fans will be mounted vertically.
I'm leaning towards the Nexus:

I think with the Icydock controlling the speed two should be pretty quiet.
Thanks for the suggestions,
Hopefully the loudest fan in my case will be the Gelid Slim Silent heatsink.

Re: Quiet 80mm fans for hard drive cages.
Lithium, thank you for your advice. As to your questions: - Does the Icy dock regulate the fan ? Or can you use something like the Noctua LNA/LNA resistor, or a Zalman fanmate to slow down the fan ? Yes the Icydock does, but I'm not sure how. I emailed Icydock about running .2 amps off the fan heade...

Re: Quiet 80mm fans for hard drive cages.
Jim, the Icydock has a large PBC backplane that might obstruct airflow. In your experience do you find it is better to blow into or suck air out of a cage?

Quiet 80mm fans for hard drive cages.
I'm looking for two quite 80mm fans to cool the five hard dives in my NAS. Three drives will be in a Icydock 3-in-2 external cage (link: http://www.icydock.com/goods.php?id=119 ) with the other two drives in a regular internal bay. Both fans will run off the Icydock's 3-pin header, which can handle ...

Re: iFixit the free repair manual
It's a good site. I've ordered parts from them and used their guides before. The tend not to have the cheapest prices, but they seem reliable (and I feel guilty using their guides and not buying). After fixing my g/f's Macbook I decided repairability will be a major factor in the next laptop I buy.
