Re: FC9 + 1050

@CA_Steve It depends on the game, Overwatch which is probably one of the more taxing GPU-vise brings it to 60C pretty quickly with the fan in completely silent mode. I have a fanmate 2 on the fan now and will make it spin faster when I play taxing games like VR stuff. I would like the fan header fro...

Re: Electronic Whining Noise Solutions Research Project

No, it's the speedstep transform to lowvolt that causes it (when you put the CPU under load the noise dissappears and it definetly comes from the CPU or really near the CPU and not the PSU)... I'm not talking about buzzing, but high pitch/freqency sqeaking like dog whistle. Few hear this because the...

Re: Electronic Whining Noise Solutions Research Project

Ok, I just shut off speedstep and C1 whatever in the BIOS! That fixed it! No more headache!

By the way; very sad for the "other" environment (not my ears environment that is) that power reduction produces high frequency noise!

Re: 3770K IHS removal and results

Interesting! Isn't it possible to take out the IHS completely and mount the HSF on the die directly, like it used to be before IHSs? You can but I'm not interesting in doing it on my hardware. Plus, I think you'd need a shim of some sort at least with air cooling. why not? having anything uneccessa...

Streacom F1C & Serener GS-L06

So as far as Mini-ITX cases go these two really stand out as no bullshit good design! http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8142/7679367930_d6f38c7762_c.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7072/7303732974_049541ec8a_c.jpg The only problem they both have is: The PSU plug with PicoPSU in it blocks the HDD mount...

Re: New build: Ivy Bridge in a fanless mini-itx enclousre

Noise and heat is none, zero, zip. Even while playing Diablo 3 on highest settings I have to put my ear to the Kozuti to hear that it's spinning. The Heatsink is then warm to the touch but nothing more: My guess ~40-45 degrees celsius, so maybe the cores are around 50-55?! The Ivy Bridge 22nm tech i...

Re: Underclock

@SebRad: Yes the Scythe Kozuti is COMPLETELY silent! It makes less noise than the electric buzzing of the hardware! So I went for the 3770S, DH61DL, Streacom F1C and PicoPSU 90, it's awesome! It's a tight fit, both for the Kozuti and the PicoPSU. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7072/7303732974_049541e...

DH61DL Compatibility

How come it doesen't support I7-3770T when it supports I7-3770S? http://processormatch.intel.com/CompDB/SearchResult.aspx?BoardName=DH61DL EDIT: I think Intel are still working on these pages, none of the motherboards currently support the 3770T... But how am I supposed to upgrade the bios using a c...

Re: Underclock

Thanks for all the useful info! I have a completely silent Atom setup with PicoPSU and SSD now. I want to play diablo 3 and other upcoming games so I need something beefier. I think I'll have to go with the Ivy Bridge though... shame it's 45W, we'll see how the kozuti handles in open air... inside a...

Ok, but how do you explain the different TDP then?

Of course I'm asking for trouble, but completely silent trouble... ;)

Re: Underclock

Ok, thanks, but what is ratio? The frequency? And is a T processor basically just underclocked or are there other power saving hardware modifications?

What is Prime95 load?

So the scythe kozuti can only handle 25W in passive?

Re: Underclock

So I think I changed my plans... now I'm going for 2100T and scythe kozuti... does anyone know how if that would work passively without case. Do you think the kozuti could dispense 30-35W via convection alone?

Underclock

Hi, Is it possible to buy a 3770K and underclock it so much the TDP goes below the 45W of the 3770T?

How does one underclock the CPU, in the BIOS?

I will run linux and passively cool the CPU with a scythe big shuriken without the fan.

Re: Intel DN2800MT hands on...Single digit world?

I decided to make a whole article out of the tests, so you can find it with the results here: http://www.linuxtech.net/reviews/intel_DN2800MT_cedarview_atom_power_draw.html Please note that the article is still incomplete and I still have to do the tests with Mageia and Meego so it's not yet offici...
