Re: Will SPCR ever review these SSDs anytime soon?

I am curious about the power consumption of these drives. With all the apparent problems with regards to heat/throttling, reducing power draw should be an important factor. Especially considering it will often be used in laptops. Anyway Intel is saying typical power consumption should be around 100m...

Re: New build in the Mini-ITX chassis > Ncase M1

As edh mentions you could try the accelero extreme or you could go with the twin turbo. One way to get rid of the heat is to flip the fans around so the fans of the gpu exhaust hot air under the chassis. A little unconventional, but seems to be working rather well in the ncase. For fans you could us...

Re: GTX 1060 Compilation Thread

I just installed the twin turbo III in my ncase and works perfectly. I will have to do some more testing but temps and noise is way down. It is a tight fit though and I will have find some way of connecting the usb 3.0 header again. RAM clearance could also potentially pose a problem. Oh, my bad, I...

Re: GTX 1060 Compilation Thread

I will post my results when I have got the cooler installed and have done some testing. Interesting idea about the mono plus. I have the ncase m1 and seeing as the case is only 140mm wide 120mm fan aftermarket vga coolers seems to be out of the question. However users at hardforum have fitted both t...

Re: GTX 1060 Compilation Thread

Well using a standard 25mm fan seems to be a bust. With an NF-A9 it was running at 83c and 1600rpm and it was actually louder than the stock fan. I think this is likely because there's only about 3mm between the bottom of the Rosewill U2 with a 25mm fan which you can see here , the shroud on the NF...

Re: Corsair SF450 spinning at idle

Thanks for the tip. Seems like a good idea placing it on the floor. But I do not really think there is room for it. I would have place it right under the fanless gpu where I have placed an intake fan.

I will see if I can get you a picture of the setup.

Re: Corsair SF450 spinning at idle

Thanks for the tip lodestar. I have installed the program and found it very useful. CPU temperature is not a problem. CPU is idling around 31-32 C. At full load (cpu stress test) it reaches about 58 C. However the motherboard temperature sensors spikes like crazy almost immediately after opening a g...

Re: Corsair SF450 spinning at idle

Been a little busy lately, but I have now tested with a thermometer. The sensor has been placed at the top of the psu where the exhaust is. This is also at the very top of the case. The indoor/room temperature is at 24.7 degrees Celsius. The sensor reports max temp as 32.8 C and min temp as 28.5 C (...

Corsair SF450 spinning at idle

Hey everyone. I have just put my new build together and everything seems to be running fine. I went with the Corsair SF450 as my psu. Here are just a few words about my experience so far: I have to say I love the smaller form-factor of the sfx standard. It really frees up a lot of space in the case....

Re: Smaller desktop build

Nice! I think I will be keeping the the RAM then. However I decided to go with the i5 6600k instead of the i3! It should arrive tomorrow hopefully. Unfortunately I have yet to order the psu, as I am waiting for it to restock. No plans of overclocking though... So it looks like this: Ncase M1 i5 6600...

Re: Smaller desktop build

Hmmm, I guess that is an option. I could also probably get by with some use of the steam in-house streaming function for now. The games I am very occasionally playing is not very demanding cs:go, trackmania, citites skylines, 8-bit armies. And with these games I have been pretty satisfied with the g...

Re: Smaller desktop build

I am going to get the sf450 then. I will have to wait a little bit for it to restock. I already ordered the other parts. The motherboard has as already arrived and looks nice. Also the cpu will in stead be the i5 6600k. Got it at a reasonable price. So I was thinking about getting another gtx 750ti....

Re: Smaller desktop build

Update: I am now the owner of a black Ncase m1 v4. Pretty good looking case I have to say. Also really compact and will be a little bit of a challenge to build in. I decided to not go for the sfx500-lg because of the issues you mentioned. So now the question is should I get the Corsair sf450 or the ...

Yes, it would probably only be suitable for a low power build. Anyway I decided to go with the nano s. Yes, I will try to take some pictures of the build when I have decided on the parts. Im pretty sure the nano s is not the optimal case, but what is really. It is all compromises really. Actually I found a new quite interesting case the Jonsbo/Cooltek UMX 1 Plus Seems pretty interesting to me. CPU co...

The Fractal Core has been considered, but then I would rather get the Node 304. The Lian Li PC-Q10 looks good. I would like to see it without a window though. Smaller desktop build

Re: New htpc/light gaming rig Node 202

Thanks. The 2 120mm fans would than work as intakes fan right? Sucking in air for under the case. The case will be placed in quite an open tv bench. No sidewalls and quite a bit of clearance above it.

What about the ml07 could it work with a passive card in horizontal position.

Are there any other (bigger) options that could work?

Re: New htpc/light gaming rig Node 202

Good point about the dual-channel ram. Might as well go with the 2x8 gb then. One thing I am curious about though is how this setup will work in a horizontal configuration. I have read the SPCR RVZ02 and I am getting a bit concerned. The GTX 750ti card is the Palit KalmX and is a PASSIVE card. I rea...

Re: New htpc/light gaming rig Node 202

ML07: i3 6100 has a 51W TDP...so, it doesn't take a lot to keep it cool. The Big Shuriken 2 Rev B would work fine. You could replace the slimline fan with a 25mm one for a total height of 71mm. RAM: Yes, DDR4 for Skylake. 2 x 4GB is all you need given your applications. Sometime down the road, game...
