Re: is silentpcreview.com ever coming back?
desktop PC building is a niche I think it always was kind of niche? At least for the last 15-20 years. (and earlier all computers were a niche) A lot of people were always buying prebuilt PCs, Macs, laptops, ... And now of course some people are satisfied with just smartphone or tablet, but I think...

Yeah, but returning is always annoying because you will have to wait for the replacement etc.MattRowen wrote:then you can take advantage of 10-year warranty by just simply returning back the product to the company.

And what's wrong with that? If there's enough space between the case and the floor.Derek Semeraro wrote: And if the power supply is facing up-side down, it's facing the floor or desk.

Yeah, actually I would be more interested in R6 vs BeQuiet 601/801 comparison.

Re: Asus GTX970 STRIX
Bought 970 Strix. Haven't heard any whine so far, in idle and when 60-80 fps. The only problem that with my config (XL R2, 3x Antec True Quiet 140 400-500rpm, RM650, i7 Mugen) in "idle" (browser and other software, 2x 1920x1200) it can get kind of hot, 50-55 °C. Probably XL /R4/R5 are not the best c...

Re: Cooling advice for Fractal Define XL R2
If you can't control the fractal 140 (the fans included with the case) with Thermal radar2 on a cha_fan header! it will be the same with the Antec true quiet 140, so before buying test with those fans, if you can control them or at least drop to 400rpms with the tech radar, before buying new fans. ...

Ok, thank you for elaborated answer.
Btw Sabertooth AI Suite does not have FanXpert2, there is Thermal Radar 2 instead, but looks like it has similar features.

Re: Cooling advice for Fractal Define XL R2
Looks like there is no PWM in Asus Sabertooth Z87 CHA_FAN (manual http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/SABERT ... sk_Manual/ page 1-30), so I doubt it will be able to take it down to 200.you should be able to take the fans down to 200rpms or ramp them to 800rpms.

Cooling advice for Fractal Define XL R2
Looking for cooling recommendations/examples for my XL R2, regarding replacement of the standard fans. I want it to be as quiet as possible. As I understood the best ones are Noctua NF-A14 FLX and ULN . Should I take FLX or ULN? As I understood ULN should be more quiet, but people usually take FLX f...

Re: Corsair RM Series intro'd
Is it true that RM 650W is louder than 550W? Or which of 550, 650 and 750 is the most silent? Actually 550 is enough for me but I fear that with i7+770GTX+2 HDD, 1 SSD it may be more than 40% in idle so it won't stop the fans? (by idle I mean not full idle but something like webbrowser (with 50-100 ...

Re: CPU cooler for powerful (gaming etc.) quiet PC
You did not mention storage device in your post and a SSD is silent as can be. Yes, I know.:) It is SSD + WD Green HDD. Noctua NH-C14 Unfortunately, availability of Noctua and Thermalright coolers is very limited in my country :( I heard a lot of recommendations about TR HR-02/22 but there is no TR...

Re: CPU cooler for powerful (gaming etc.) quiet PC
Welcome to SPCR. Second: What are your other applications? If gaming is the hardest task, then this build can be easily pared down in cost and not suffer at all. (i7->i5-4670K, 16GB->8GB, Sabertooth ->Z87-Pro or similar). Other tasks are programming, sometimes a lot of simultaneously opened windows...

CPU cooler for powerful (gaming etc.) quiet PC
I am trying to build a powerful and quiet PC. Something like this: Intel i5 4660k or i7 4770k Asus Z87 Sabertooth 16 GB RAM (Crucial Ballistix 1600MHz CL9 probably) Gainward GeForce GTX770 Phantom (as I understood, it is the most quiet of 770) Corsair RM 550-650W Fractal Define R4 or XL R2 And the o...
