I don't know the coolers of your list, but I ran a Noctua NH-U14S successfully inside a Node 304 on top of a 6700K, see also here.

Re: Updating from a P183 - is an R5 truly the best option?

Nothing ever rattled with my R5 while I used it. I meanwhile switched case, but not because the R5 was bad. It's a great case. I just wanted something smaller. Nothing wrong with the R5.

Hi guys, photobucket just killed millions of embedded images, some of them were mine. You probably heard about that. I don't know about AI Suite, but SpeedFan can do that. If you want to give it a try, be aware, that the user interface takes alittle getting used to. There are manuals around the web.

Update in post #1: Changed PSU fan.

@keif: Yes, I ned 1,2V for stability. This is slightly lower, than the stock voltage of the mobo, but as soon as I go lower, things get unstable.
Thanks for you suggestion of the fan shroud, sounds like a good idea!

Welcome to SPCR. If you step down from ATX PSU as a requirement to SFX PSU, you will broaden your possibilities: Fractal Design Node 304 and Node 202 come to mind, as well as the Raven RZ01 . Also check out the DAN A4. See here and here . Dan will start a second run for a v2 of this case soon. It is...

Re: Silencing and Overclocking a 5930k

Which case is this? Is it possible to remove the upper drive cage? I would try to change the fan configuration to 1 back exhaust and 1 or 2 intake fans in the front. Then, if you really need it, reactivate the bottom intake and see if it helps. I would avoid conflicting directions in airflow (bottom...

As much as I appreciate the qualities of the R5 , it always felt a bit too big for my personal taste. So when I stumbled over the DAN A4 on kickstarter , I backed it right away. It was designed by Daniel Hansen during a community based three-year project and produced by Lian-Li. There will be a seco...

vishcompany might be able to provide more data. The J1900 running on debian linux manages file transfer via samba at +/-120MB/s, CPU load during this process is around 50%. I did mod a GTX760, but it was Asus. The thread about modding is here (no pics any more), you can actually skip it, long story short: The MK-26 is great, but PWM did not work with different fans, so I hooked up the fans to the mobo and drove them through SpeenFan (which could read the GPU temp). The R5 is a great case, I really like it. You might get away with something smaller, but The R5 is a pretty safe bet. Asus Z-170A in my case (no probs at all) and MSI H-110i Pro (very basic BIOS). Re: First timer: Define R5 + NH-D15? silent enough or not?

I am running an NH-U14S inside an R5 cooling a i7-6700K. There is also a dedicated GPU inside this case, dumping it's heat into the case. I created custom fan curves (speed fan in my case, but you can do something similar in most modern BIOS) and during gaming the CPU fan stays below 400RPM. The cas...

Re: Case for gaming PC, Silent but cool

R5 user here.
6700k / single GTX1070 setup, couldn't be more happy.
Also used it for a NAS setup for a while: 2x 3,5 HDD, one of them not so silent, never heard a thing of the disks.

R5 comes with one intake fan only, I would recommend startig from there and add a third fan if you feel the need.

What PSU did you use on the Node304? The NAS setup is running on an SST-ST30SF, which works really well for low power demands. For the gaming rig - well, it can deliver the power needed, it just gets loud: Fan ramping up dramatically and it also gets messy with the demands of the GPU (lots of elect...

Obviously, it would be ideal to be able to control the connected case fans independently of the GPU fans' duty cycle, like you can with MB fan controls according to CPU temp. But it's a great first step. You can do this already by using SpeedFan (as long as you are running Windows). Don't get me wr...

Re: Quietest GTX 1080 - Fan vs water

I have very positive experience with an MK-26 cooler. It is huge, really, that's why it is so good. It was designed to handle 320W and kept my last 170W GPU perfectly cool under any load, including OC to the max. If you take this route, you have to get the fans extra. I went with 2x120mm, which was ...
