Re: [250D vs Node 304] airflow in a small, quiet workstation

If you'll be using an ATX power supply, I should point out that you'll only be able to use one fan on the side anyway, since the PSU is mounted across the case (using a different bracket for ATX PSUs): https://i.imgur.com/eCjuPso.jpg The previous image showed an SFX PSU installed, which leaves the f...

Re: [250D vs Node 304] airflow in a small, quiet workstation

Thanks for your comment. As far as you can say, would an M1 system work as well, thermal-wise, whether such a systems didn't sport both the rear A9x14 and the farthest (from the cooler) iPPC fans? It's unlikely to make much difference to CPU temperatures, but the additional fans may have some impac...

Re: [250D vs Node 304] airflow in a small, quiet workstation

Any forced-air cooling system requires some (forced) airflow. This depends mostly on the internal fans A.T.R. (air-through-radiator) flow, the total amount of heat generated within the enclosure and on the maximum temperature rise (over the inlet/ambient one) permitted. Otherwise your internal fans...

Do note that the NH-C14S is taller than the NH-C14, and because of that it won't fit in the M1 with its top-mounted fan.

Re: Fractal Design Node 202 Compact Gaming Case

I think the lack of adequate ventilation for the GPU exhaust was a major oversight on Fractal's part. It basically makes higher end axial fan cards a no-go in the case. Would a GPU with an AIO watercooler be able to fit? If so, keeping in mind pump noise, I wonder how say, a Fury X would do. I can t...

Re: It looks like Silverstone PS07-E could be the next big h

There seems to be some confusion in this thread. The interior shot posted by NeilBlanchard is of the older PS07, which is nearly identical inside to the TJ08-E. Both of those cases have been available for a while. The case in the OP is the new PS07- E , which as can be seen in the Kitguru article ha...

Re: Quiet Mini-ITX Gaming Build Guide #2: NCASE M1 Edition

One question on the VC: the GTX 970 Strix is too tall for the case (5.5") but does the GTX 960 Strix suffer from the same issue (4.77")? The NCASE website says 5.5" max in slot 1&2 and 4.4" max in slot 3. I find this a bit confusing though as it looks like all three slots in the case have the same ...

Re: Journey to a Silent MicroATX Gamer

Right. But I'm saying it's potentially beneficial to have the GPU intake facing towards the CPU, as it was with BTX. Beneficial for space efficient designs at least. How would that be more space efficient? Let me clarify: it would allow for more compact designs that effectively deal with the warm e...

Re: Journey to a Silent MicroATX Gamer

Re - GPU at the top concept: Check out our comments in the TJ-08E review SilverStone essentially made a tradeoff, opting for a cooler CPU near the case floor and a warmer GPU in the upper section of the case. Gamers with high-end video cards would actually benefit if they turned it back the "right"...

Re: Journey to a Silent MicroATX Gamer

Good to see you here... Dan? 8) Agreed -- re: poorly suited hardware standards, esp for VGA card. Don't know how many BTX systems and cases you examined; I was around for all of BTX, examined a handful of mid-tower designs (no reviews) and reviewed a couple of BTX Shuttles. (Search for BTX on the m...

Re: Journey to a Silent MicroATX Gamer

Bitfenix Prodigy/Phenom mATX versions would work, but they're pretty darn big. We have a mITX Biftfenix build on the way. The microATX versions are exactly the same size as the mini-ITX versions, and about the size (give or take) of the Air 240. Designing a PC for low noise can be quite challenge, ...

Re: Quiet Mini-ITX Gamer Build Guide

Again great article with alternatives. Never heard of Roswill before. Like the case, maybe next build. As you can see in one of my previous posts, it's sold under different brands in Europe. Indeed. Jonsbo is actually the manufacturer. Cooltek rebrands them for the European market, while Rosewill (...

Re: Custom mATX/ATX case, 22-30L, horizonal/vertical orienta

If only SilverStone could make this case for us, instead of their failed mini iterations of the ft02.... They already are - check out the FT05 and RV05. The major difference from your drawing is in the width, where Silverstone kept it more typical for ATX cases to allow for full-size heatsinks and ...

Re: Custom simple 22L mATX case, opinions on materials

There's not enough room for a 120mm rear fan in your mockup with the dimensions given. From the bottom of a PCIe card bracket to the top of the motherboard I/O shield is 55mm, so the absolute minimum internal width necessary is 175mm if you want room for a rear 120. What about cable management? That...

Re: NCASE M1: Crowdfunded Enthusiast Mini-ITX Case

Hi all, M1 designer here. I've been following the thread for a while, thought I'd chime in. The primary design goal for the M1 was to pack as much performance into a case that's as small as reasonably possible, with the necessary cooling capability that entails. Noise was a consideration as well, wh...
