Current power efficient Z97 mobos

http://www.computerbase.de/2014-12/z97- ... -asrock/6/

Nice test. Idle, load, gaming with iGPU and dedicated GPU. :)

Does anyone have comparable ressources?

Re: noobie needs help

That is a horrible case indeed (pun intended). Well, if you can feel the vibrations there is seriously something wrong. You should uncouple the HDD, but I guess the HDD cages themselves are also riveted to the case, a very light one as well with cheap thin sides. What HDD do you use? Apart from unc...

Re: noobie needs help

so, i have this case: http://www.lc-power.de/index.php?id=273&L=1 and my hdd is vibrating quite a lot, to the point i can feel the vibrations in my desk and hands, even after i put some foam under the case. i am looking for a way to reduce the vibrations to a minimum, but i am not sure what are my ...

Re: 900€/$ Ultra Silent 21:9 UHD Build

Actually I got myself a Seasonic Platinum Fanless 460W, I'm going to try out whether I can keep temps low enough. If not, I'd go for a semi passive one. Also considering an i3-4370 instead of the i5-4460 for higher single core performance at even lower TDP. I don't play that many CPU-dependent games...

Re: Pico PSU and power brick round-up

If you want to make a completely passive system, you don't need to build a PC because in that case you can just buy a decent laptop. My X240 Thinkpad is completely passive in Idle. My Raspberry Pi is passive at full load. ;) A laptop is great if you need mobility. But the cost is usually higher tha...

Re: Quiet internal fans for laptops

Imo you dont need those. Get a decent laptop with low voltage components like low voltage RAM, a power efficient SSD and an U-series i5 and your laptop should run passive (my X240 Thinkpad does). In the future as Broadwell will come, there will be more and more fanless systems

Re: Fractal Design R5 build

For the very simple reason that I retained those from my previous system. Have you measured a difference? I have about the same build, just with the stock fans and fanless Seasonic Platinum, 970 Gaming from MSI and i5 instead of i7. Do the case fans run more silent when plugged in the mobo instead ...

Re: Fractal Design R5 build

Case : Fractal Design R5 Fans : 3x Noctua AF14 PWM fans (2 intake, 1 out) So you basically got the case with the best and most silent stock fans and replaced them by slightly better ones? Why pay the premium at all? You could just have gotten the cheaper R4, especially since you are not removing th...

Re: Pico PSU and power brick round-up

I have used picos for many years. I dont care at all about the power efficiency/ I use them because they take up zero space, they are completely silent and they keep a lot of the PSU heat outside of the case. those features make them perfect for small, silent computers. http://www.hardwareluxx.de/i...

Um, you could look at the date of the last post before adding your own? I know this thread is dead. Re: 1080p gaming, completely passive?

This will be a very complicated build. 1. You need a NoFan heatsink. No discussion, these are the only ones capable of running a CPU passive. 2. You will need to use a passive GPU, limiting your graphics power, but that might work with an old game. 3. Passive PSUs are luckily available, but you migh...

Re: Can you over-clock RAM with a non K CPU on a Zxx mobo?

Intel’s byzantine market segmentation has me confused. I have a Z77 ITX board and have ordered an i5-3470 as an upgrade and am also thinking of finally moving beyond 8GB. Is it possible on a Z77 board to run RAM at higher than 1600 which is what the i5 is rated for? Also it seems as if you can over...

Had looked at newegg and although I did find one of the Recomended Scythe, it wasn't from Newegg but one of their affiliates, thus not from them and as I've had problems with some of the affiliates in the past, I refuse to deal with any affiliates due to past problems. Noctua NF-S12B (seem to recal...

Re: The Problems w/Fanless ATX PSUs

Can some mod please remove this horrendously outdated sticky?

Nowadays fanless PSUs can easily be run in a regular case with regular components, at least that's what all the recent reviews of newer passive PSUs show.

Re: 900€/$ Ultra Silent 21:9 UHD Build

Sure. There's not significant heat build up with 2 case fans at low speed for this system. Figure: 40-50W while streaming videos or other lightweight 2D tasks. 30-40W idle. On the other end, 120W GPU, 84W CPU, 40W for everything else = 244W stress load. ~210W heavy gaming load. I'd opt to spend the...

900€/$ Ultra Silent 21:9 UHD Build

Planning to build this, PSU and GPU should be silent in idle and yet potent enough for gaming without risking a housefire. Will this work? Does someone has something similar?
