New GPU for my FD Node 304
Hey peps, I recently started considering that my 960 Strix might be due to retirement, so i have started looking for a new GPU. I fell in love with the Asus 1660 Super, Strix. but then became aware that its with is 2 mm above the specs for my cabinet, a Fractal Design Node 304. I would therefor hear...

Re: Scared of heat in a fanless PSU
I have been using a XFX 460 w platinum fanless (rebranded seasonic) for over year now,, with a GTX960 Strix and a 4690K CPU. No problems so far, and I even shoved it all into a mITX case and put it into a poorly ventilated IKEA desk. So far my only noise is when my GPU is running on max, or my WD gr...

Re: SFF Options (Silent / Quiet but powerful)
I think I'm looking for quiet not silent from reading the definitions here. Those cases don't really grab me - it's going to be on display in a living room so has to be nice enough for the OH! Try the Fractal Design Node 304. Looks a bit like a mini frigde, but it has nice clean lines and surfaces....

Im really looking forward to see what Asus and MSI can do with the new tech. Especially the more "modest" 60-models and Pascal
Btw, I can imagine a lot of misunderstandings coming up when people start talking about 1080, unspecified

Re: Asus GeForce GTX 960 Strix OC Edition
Does anyone have a "chart" over ideal temps for this card? I am trying to achieve a balance between low noise and acceptable temps for my Strix 960, and yesterday i reached 94 degrees Celcius (i was experimenting with GPU Tweak while playing Dragon Age Inquisition set on High). Im a little worried t...

Re: [250D vs Node 304] airflow in a small, quiet workstation
I did a Node 304 build this summer, and my personal experience with it is very good. Mine is a gaming build, and if im playing GTA V or such the GPU (GTX 960 Strix) becomes noticable. The other hearable component is my HDD, which has become much quieter since i suspended it in elastic bands. Since y...

Re: GPU maintainance - Articles & Advice?
I have realised that I’m probably not getting around to investigate this subject further. The issue is too minor for me to start taking my GPU apart. So there is going to be no further follow up, unless the sleves starts grinding gravel :) Thank you for the responses, and I apologise for wasting you...

Re: Windows 10 causing Hardware noise?
I found the culprit, and it is rather embarrassing. It was hardware, but not any of my PC hardware. Instead it turned out to be the Power Saving Extention Chord... It was placed next to the PC, so I only discovered it when i put the PC on the desk to pinpoint the noise. I do feel rather stupid now :...

Re: Asus GTX970 STRIX
hey,
Have anyone tried comparing the Asus GTX970 Strix to the Asus GTX970 mini?
I know it seems like an unfair fight due to the difference in coolers, but it seems like the mini got some very favorable reviews, and i have started wondering how much more noise it actually generates.

Windows 10 causing Hardware noise?
Hey ppl, I tried upgrading my newly buildt pc from win7 to 10 this weekend, and the first thing i noticed was that my pc now emits an occational mechanical tick. I have still to locate its origin, but i have a gutfeeling that its the PSU or HDD. it sounds like a switch clicking on and off. I have re...

Hi guys and gals, Have any of you experienced hardware mishaps after upgrading to win10? My PC has started to make an occational, yet very annoying, click sound, which after 30 minutes have made me consider downgrading to win7 again. I have yet to pinpoint the noise, but it is definetly from the com...

Hey Luca
Nope, not yet. I was planning on posting the promised pics this weekend.
As the most noise is the air rush from the fan going 100 % I might just tough it out until the time is ripe for upgrading.

Re: GPU maintainance - Articles & Advice?
You could perhaps remove the plastic shroud and the two stock fans, keep the heatsink and attach one or two 120mm fans (powered by the motherboard perhaps) using zip ties. Perhaps, if the fans were defect. Right now it seems like way too intrusive juryrigging. I think they just need a bit of oil, b...

I cannot post a pic without the sticker before tonight, but here is my GPU. GPU.png As I said, under the sticker there is just a plastic cap with no screw. The cap and the fans are one piece of plastic. And a link to explanation of the asus dustproof fan: http://www.bjorn3d.com/wp-content/uploads/20...

Re: GPU maintainance - Articles & Advice?
Search for how to lubricate sleeve bearing fans. I did. The problem is that all the guides assume there is a little cap under the sticker. Mine doesn't have that. The fan seems more like it is a clip on. That is why I asked for the specific model. Either the screws are on the backside of the fan, w...

GPU maintainance - Articles & Advice?
Hello SPCR, I have been looking for articles and discussions regarding keeping my Asus GTX 660 OCPH somewhat quiet. Re: Asus GeForce GTX 960 Strix OC Edition
What exactly is the TI model compared to a non-TI?
Im not buying a new card tomorrow, so I will follow you advice and see what 950 brings to the table. But won't a x50 model be a downgrade compared to x60 or x70?
Or is it here the TI part plays in?

I have been lurking a bit on this card, although a lot of online reviewers recommend spending the extra bucks and go for the 970. Will this card be able to pull the load on a single 23" screen for a midrange gamer, or will it too soon loose terrain to new and more requiring game titles? Im not looki...

You are welcome
Yeah, im very satisfied with it
You are probably right with the HDD, it's the sound of it working when i start up the machine, so not general vibrations. It is somewhat louder than i would have expected, but since its mostly when booting it's not a problem.

Re: Opinions on this mITX build with FD Node 304 -Edit: new
I figured i would give an update now that i have had some time to try it out. It still runs very smoothly, with my GPU and HDD as the major noise factors. My WD 2TB green is making some mechanical noise when booting. While not a big problem, I have started to consider alternate suspension in order t...

I see your point
But this being my first build combined with me being of cautious nature, i preferred playing safe. One thing is certain, choosing the Super Flower 500 would have caused me more difficulty than I would have liked

It's fanless. They were pretty specific with the whole "grill must face up" part. Which also makes good sense to me, as the downside isn't perforated to the same degree, and I didn't want to turn my PSU into a mini hotbox. I am actually quite content with my solution, allthough it could look prettie...
