Re: New Asus WS C246 Motherboard
You could put a Samsung 970 Pro VMe PCIe SSD on each of those M.2 slots, and use them to store videos or video editing files on them. Are you sure? The Asus website seems to go out of their way to say that the second M.2 slot is only x2 suitable for SATA drives. If that's the case I would think the...

Re: New Asus WS C246 Motherboard
I'm curious to hear what people think of Asus and Supermicro boards and alternative motherboard platforms too for the new Xeon E, as well as expected availability. Supermicro introduced X11SCA-W which seems better in that the second M.2 slot is x4 (full bandwidth for NVMe SSD) whereas the second M.2...

Re: Seasonic Titanium PSUs
Thanks for the reply @Seasonic Rep I do hope that it will be worth the wait. The customer demographic who buy the fanless model want utterly silent operation and I hope you have used the extra year so to achieve that. Would not want coil whine to spoil it. Hope you will send a sample to SPCR for tes...

Re: Seasonic Titanium PSUs
What's going on with the seasonic prime 600w? They keep slipping the release date. They announced the PRIME line with fanless model more than a year ago! They had most recently suggested that 600w model may be released at Computex 2017, but it didn't happen. Now they are suggesting that it may be so...

Define S / PC-V33B / Bullet BH7 and Noctua vs Noiseblocker
I still mulling over a build with the upcoming Kaby Lake Xeon and a GTX 1080 (the most silent one). An efficient Seasonic Prime Titanium 650W. NH-U14S CPU cooler. Question about case and case fans. I like the define S. It seems like a good choice that's well recognized for quiet builds. But I prefer...

Re: Quietest GTX 1080 - Fan vs water
I'm curious about insights into the quietest GTX 1080. My understanding was the MSI GTX 1080 is the quietest model. Sounds like the Zotac 1080 Amp Extreme is the quietest stock model. I am intrigued by the Prolimatech Inc. PRO-MK-26 (or similar devices) and would be interested in hearing insights in...

Re: Feedback and Suggestions for Silent Build. Fanless optio
Some cases like the Define R5 are specifically designed to reduce noise - using for example sound absorbing materials to pad the internal surfaces of the case . Which are mostly marketing gimnicks. Are there some other cases that you think are as good or better in terms of silence as the def...

Re: Feedback and Suggestions for Silent Build. Fanless optio
If I may lend some $0.02 into this discussion, you could accomplish all of this using an i7, a 512gb SSD and a GTX980 with a particularly quiet cooler. You're welcome to take a look at my build thread, and Ill freely admit that while the machine is not absolutely silent, when the central air is run...

Re: Feedback and Suggestions for Silent Build. Fanless optio
Thanks. I plan on keeping the top of the case closed. I don't have a need for the drive cages so plan to go with the Define S. But I wonder whether the R5 would be more quiet when using the NH-U14S with the slightly more closed front. Any thoughts on that? I read, that the door of the Define S has ...

Re: 1000VA - 1500VA Silent UPS 2016 Update?
I took a look at the APC BX1000G on Amazon. I saw some negative comments here on the previous UPS threads but it is highly rated by many users on Amazon -many say it is silent. But see this post about pure sine wave input and power factor correction (top critical review for this APC model on Amazon)...

1000VA - 1500VA Silent UPS 2016 Update?
Saw threads from years ago about silent Uninterruptable Power Supply devices. I would be interested in an update. I want a UPS that would keep my PC and one, maybe two, large monitors running (~150-220W). I'd like to be able to do more than just save my work and shut down, but rather ride the batter...

Re: Feedback and Suggestions for Silent Build. Fanless optio
While gaming the CPU fan runs between 230-300 RPM, with occasional spikes to 350RPM, all of which is inaudible. The case fans run 400 and 450 RPM to provide enough fresh air for CPU and GPU. The CPU cores reach ~55°C with these settings. (I am running my own fan curves with SpeedFan). Albeit he lik...

Re: Feedback and Suggestions for Silent Build. Fanless optio
For CPU cooler, I am trying to decide between NoFan CR-95C Black Pearl Fanless CPU Cooler and Noctua NH-U14S. Open to others suggestions. I am running a 6700K with an NH-U14S inside an R5. Re: Feedback and Suggestions for Silent Build. Fanless optio
Fractal Design Define S Fine choice, i would grab an extra fan to end up with positive pressure and avoid somewhat dust entering through not filtered spots like PCI brackets, PSU openings, etc. For CPU cooler, I am trying to decide between NoFan CR-95C Black Pearl Fanless CPU Cooler and Noctua NH-U...

Re: Feedback and Suggestions for Silent Build. Fanless optio
For your basic office tasks, a midgrade CPU from 3 years ago and a middle of the road SSD will offer the same apparent performance as what you've spec'd out :) video editing can make use of 4/8 core CPU. Might also make use of the gfx card for GPU based acceleration - but depends on the s/w. Gaming...

Re: Feedback and Suggestions for Silent Build. Fanless optio
Here's some comments and questions... What are your office apps? Fractal Design Define S - good case. One front and one rear fan is fine (see cooler comments). You might opt for a 2nd front fan for positive pressure. (less air/dust sucking in from non-filtered locations). Xeon E3-1275 V5 - ok. 80W ...

Feedback and Suggestions for Silent Build. Fanless options?
I am planning a silent build for use in an office. Having it be as silent as possible for general office work is very important to me. Would also like it to be as quiet as practical the load scales and the GPU gets loaded. Would welcome input and suggestions on anything. I am not that sensitive to p...

Re: A Silent CaseLabs Bullet?
There is the larger Bullet BH7. I am interested in silent PC test results for this. http://www.caselabs-store.com/bullet-bh7-atx-case/ Not enough clearance for Seasonic PSU to be face up. They recommend 20 cm but apparently there is only 7mm. But could use a hybrid fan Seasonic PSU face down accordi...
