Re: Cooler for Antec Fusion - Ninja Mini replacement?

NH-L12S is slightly weaker and much louder than bq! ones I recommended, but it's from different size category, so shouldn't be compared. I wanted to stay as far as possible from such due to generally the bigger the cooler, the less job for fan and here is also aspect of bq! offerings having bigger f...

Re: Cooler for Antec Fusion - Ninja Mini replacement?

To be honest I got to this link when I was playing with these comparisons, but wasn't interested enough to go thru it :) If potsy will move thread of 11700 further and be in need of some help with understanding Passmark, things may change :]

Re: Cooler for Antec Fusion - Ninja Mini replacement?

O, I didn't think that way, but it looks like another point for Intel and unexpected GPU upgrade :] My only doubt is, how it would be with few monitors, if he uses such as it's common among music producers. I used comparison tool with potsy's GPU and 11700's integrated one: https://www.videocardbenc...

Re: Cooler for Antec Fusion - Ninja Mini replacement?

Yeah, using tower cooler as a case fan is some advantage, but rather not any cooler can be mounted horizontally and vertically. Vertical mount is so unusual in nowadays horizontal airflow cases, that I just have never paid attention to this aspect. Also most of the coolers don't give an option to mo...

Re: Cooler for Antec Fusion - Ninja Mini replacement?

First post I said I'm going to build with one of my kids who chose the mobo & cpu. But doesn't really game. Fine, you were just kind enough to not tell me anything, when I was talking that much about gaming for no reason ;) My bad, but everything is clear now :] The ninja is 115mm tall (4.5inch) an...

Re: Cooler for Antec Fusion - Ninja Mini replacement?

Now I read this topic once again and I don't know where from I took "your" thought about son gaming on it, so possible strong GPU upgrade... Do you even have son? :D If it's only CPU work and not overclocking Antec case should do fine thermally ;) My CPU recommendation is still the same. NH-D9L will...

Re: Cooler for Antec Fusion - Ninja Mini replacement?

I start with the story of the guy, who I helped on another forum. He came for full system recomendations for gaming build, nothing hardcore: Ryzen 1600AF or 2600 with RTX 2060. Wanted also some possibly compact case, because "he doesn't have space in his living room" and keeping everything budget wa...

Re: Cooler for Antec Fusion - Ninja Mini replacement?

Yeah, Shadow Rock is very good and nicely priced choice, but I would also buy some thermal paste to replace garbage default one - it costs nothing and will make this cooler working the best as it can. Great, but fair priced ones are Gelid GC Extreme, Arctic MX-4 or newest MX-5 or Alpenfoehn Glatteis...

Re: Cooler for Antec Fusion - Ninja Mini replacement?

To be honest Prime B450M-A is one of the worst choices from B450 and I wouldn't also go with 5600X, but let's leave any hardware discussion on a side. The <115mm coolers I would go are be quiet! Shadow Rock TF2 or Dark Rock TF. Shadow is great performer and reasonable choice, Dark is paying much pre...

Almost Mac Pro :D And wheels for sure were cheaper :] With all your concerns about temperatures and ventilation you seem like a person, who all the time run some damn HWInfo and looks, if your 5800X isn't likely to cause fire :P It will be fine, really - just keep your pc clean, so mostly hoover the...

Re: cpu fan starts spinning fast when open and using chrome

You mean mounting PSU with fan on the bottom or top (upside down)? It's generally better to mount it with fan on the bottom mostly due to then it's filtered, doesn't add heat to the case and pulls fresh air instead of warmer, so cools itself easier - PSU's fan speed works according to thermal sensor...

Re: cpu fan starts spinning fast when open and using chrome

so what will be the speed of the second fan, that does not have the rpm sensor. will it be same as the first fan? Re: cpu fan starts spinning fast when open and using chrome

One fan connector on the motherboard can read and show only rpm of one fan, so using splitters will show speed of one fan no matter how many fans splitter has plugged. Before you used two mobo's connectors. Best thing is to remove case's top panel as part of this fan will be then visible. All other ...

Re: cpu fan starts spinning fast when open and using chrome

That lacking pin serves to report speed and using splitter makes two fans seen as one by the computer, so that's why one connection needs to be like that. That's why you have only one fan curve for both fans - they run the same % of their maximum speed, but in fact their speeds are different due to ...

Re: cpu fan starts spinning fast when open and using chrome

Generally case airflow works best if upper front fan blows directly on CPU cooler and bottom one mostly below GPU, but these are niuances, which can affect more or less your components temperatures as such impact would be different for every configuration. I just like to have everything set the best...

Re: cpu fan starts spinning fast when open and using chrome

Now moving your fans doesn't really matter - if you use or pc only to browse web, you could even uninstall all three with rather zero impact on temperatures ;) Fractal started with Define 7 and continued with Meshify 2 series mounting these fans too high for some reason - only thing, which comes to ...

Re: cpu fan starts spinning fast when open and using chrome

It looks like Dark Rock Pro 4 splitter. Use it. I mean to lower front fans the same as in photo of my rig. Top fan in default position is largery blocked by 3 centimeters obstruction from 5.25 frame and filter's constrution - it for sure affects cooling, it maybe affects noise. How to do it? As I to...

Re: cpu fan starts spinning fast when open and using chrome

I don't know what System 1 or 2 mean (maybe it's explained somewhere in your bios). For sure these are parts of motherboard, but which one can't say. You can always set all fans to CPU as it's clear. Both fans of the cooler are connected separately (using two CPU Cooler connectors)? I would connect ...

Re: cpu fan starts spinning fast when open and using chrome

Control mode is mobo's automatic detection, if 3-pin or 4-pin fan is connected, so automatic choice of way it controls speed of this fan (DC or PWM). Your fans are 3-pin, so mobo's Auto is in fact DC mode. That all means you don't need to switch it. It may be needed to manually switch to PWM, if you...

Re: cpu fan starts spinning fast when open and using chrome

Two fan cables from the hub have their functions when you use the hub.

You have every fan connector shown in your motherboard's manual.

Set also high intervals for case fans.

Re: cpu fan starts spinning fast when open and using chrome

Connect rear fan to SYS_FAN1. Alternatively SYS_FAN3 - won't be pretty driven, but - if I'm not wrong - you don't have case with window. Disconnected 4-pin cable hanging from the hub serves only using this hub. Disconnect also secound cable (one next to it) from the PSU. You can really set these cas...

Re: cpu fan starts spinning fast when open and using chrome

After connecting the fans to SYS_FANs you will be able to create fan curve. You should be able to make it just flat line giving you constant speed. You will need to create such for every connector used to plug case fans, so three fans = three fan curves (remember what were the numbers of these conne...

Re: cpu fan starts spinning fast when open and using chrome

Exactly. I only would avoid SYS_FAN1 header if it's pita due to your mobo's heatsink, but if no problem, it would be really handy with plugging here rear fan. Going with individual fan connectors instead of using hub is to me worse option. E.g. I keep my case fans on constant (0-99C) inaudible speed...
