Thanks, I appreciate it. I hope that that prediction in the link of which wire is which is correct. I don't want to muck things up... from your intuition, do you agree that the first wire is probably red? A basic electrical question: I don't have a soldering iron - but I do have a set of crimping pl...

Fan control question - will this work?

Hello- I have a G4 Mac Mini. The fan on the inside of the mini is fairly quiet, although, it is slightly annoying (after discovering this site years ago I have developed that tell-tale sensitivity to computer noise!). The fan is automatically controlled by the computer. It is a 3 pin fan, as picture...

Well, I checked my S12-330 Revision 2. I'm dissappointed to report that it's got the smaller heatsinks. Had I known there was a difference in the size of the heatsinks, I would have gotten the 430. The fan on this s12 does ramp up from time to time.

One can see a review of the s12-380 with pictures, dated May 2005. It looks like the s12-380 (at the time) had the larger heatsinks. I don't know if this means that the s12-330 Revision 2 has the smaller ones or the larger ones. Again, will check mine tonight. http://www.tech-mods.net/modules.php?na...

Seasonic S12-330 Rev A3 (w/Sleeving) Review

Seasonic S12-330 Rev A3 (w/Sleeving) Review Dear MikeC/Devon: First, thanks for the review. Is there any reason to believe that the older S12-330 Revision 2 has the same larger heatsinks as the S12-430? Is it possible that the reduction in heatsink size came along only with the third revision, as d...

Hold on a second!

Let's say I DON"T want to run SLI. I want to run a SINGLE 7800GTX, x2 athlon processor, etc. with an s12-330 (which I already OWN).

This is fine, is'nt it?

Thanks!!

According to Tom's hardware, the 7800gtx pulls 250W of power during gameplay! Given this, will the s12-330 (which I already have) really be enough for that kind of a graphics card, in addition to a dual core athlon 64, 2 hd's, 1 usb add on card, ram, system fans, and dvd-rw drive? (NON-SLI) Or do I ...

mmm. Good to know. So I *definitely* won't have a problem with the non-SLI setup I have described above right? I think that is what I'll do then, and instead of going for an SLI in the future, just invest some extra money into getting the 512mb 7800gtx despite the ridiculous cost. I don't like to up...

s12-330 enough power for this build? how about SLI?

Hello All, I know that there are plenty of threads in these forums about not needing that high of wattage for system builds these days. Just the same, I see that the reccomendation is that people get the s12-430 for their systems. I have an s12-330 that I recently purchased for an older computer. No...

Hopefully newegg will just give me a refund at this point, and I'll continue to use this old power supply. The stran...

s12-330 not working anymore

Hello, I've replaced my old pc power and cooling 275atx silencer power supply a couple months ago with an s12-330. For some reason, if I did not unplug the silencer after turning off the computer, I would not be able to turn it back on again without waiting for about 20 minutes. I thought it was an ...

Fan Headers - Where to buy?

Dear All,

I'm wondering where I can buy 3-pin fan headers. I have some fans I would like to put to use that just have bare fan leads. I've looked on newegg, and a few other places but can't seem to find them.

Any suggestions would be helpful!
Thanks!

In my opinion, if you're looking to build a silent pc, the higher the power output of a psu, the better. This is the case if you are planning on modding the psu with a very slow spinning fan, and if you buy a psu from a good company. I refer you to a quote from MikeC's article on PSU's: "The main be...

Thanks for all of your comments. The conclusion seems to be the same though- a higher powered PSU (honestly rated) would be less prone to failure if one mods it with a very low spinning fan. For example, currently I have a pc power and cooling turbo-cool 300 modded with a panaflo at about 6v. Someti...

It is not as if there are NO higher powered PSU's that are not honestly rated.

Higher power psu's are better for modding

There is something I don't quite understand. Most people who post in this forum are constantly downplaying the need for a higher powered psu. Fine- one does'nt need a 500w PSU to run their system, but based on the article by MikeC - with "all other things being equal" (meaning efficiency and so on) ...

Is it worth it on a Cyrix MII 333 though? If it says a protein is 400 frames, than does it mean that once my computer completes 400 frames it has completed 1 WU?

Is it worth it if it completes 1 WU every 580 hours?!

If it is.. I"ll continue.
