Yes. The Abit Nf7-S v2.0 would work. THere are a couple of 'if's though. There is a big uproar among users on the RMA ratio of these boards. Apparently they ship defunct boards. And there are some other strange problems reported. And.. it has active cooling on the NB .. which is quite close to the C...

I only get some "gold membership" stuff if I try to load the pdf.
If its not over 250kb, could someone mail the pdf to me at "[email protected]"? Would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm.. another question: The recommended section states that it lists boards that are able to undervolt 0.2 or more. But there are different standard vcore voltages for different processors arent there? How can you tell which one any processor use? Is it determined by stepping or generation or someth...

Thanks for the replies! That cleared up good. :) I can agree with ASUS overvolting. I suppose this is why they get good stability results with their boards and therefore consumer likes them. My ole A7V133 had a default vcore of 1.75 and it ran on 1.81. It overvolts 0.05 over what I set. Took way too...

Undervolting inabilty, why?
I have been searching the forum for a bit now looking for recent and good info on undervolting. But there isnt much there so I thought I would try to pull up another discussion about it. Unanswered previous questions: * Are Athlons (Tbreds, Bartons) properly unlocked by default or are they not? * Do...

A link says more than thousand bytes, here are two: http://www.chieftec.com/products/Apollo/Color.htm http://www6.tomshardware.com/howto/20030428/case_review-19.html Ok. Good reasons like............... Less Value (Based on the drop in price of 7200RMP Drives) More Noise (Based on the new FDB that Seagate and Maxtor have implemented) Less Space (Except of the huge external Maxtor Drives) All that is true for OLD modles of 5400 drives. The Samsung Spinpoint 5400 ser...

It might be a bad series of drives. A while ago (a year? two years?), one of the IBM GXP series of hard drives were reported to fail when running them for more than 8 hours a day. Sadly, I can't remember which drives were affected :( Later GXP series don't have this problem. Do you mean that they f...

Its the AMD-problem, I can assume. Everything pulls from 5V line so that it drops while 12V rises. Not much to do but to buy a P4 or a better PSU. Well.. if you consider your system to be fairly low-consuming you might have a faulty PSU. I dont think there is any 'burning' risk though. You'll only g...

Re: I have just measured to Voltage to the FAN in the PSU!
Anyway, I have decided to buy a Panaflo FBA08AL1A fan and see if that one is more silent and/or capable of moving more air at a lower noise level than the fan currently present in the PSU. It only costs a few bucks, so it's worth a try. I think its a good idea. Many have had success with doing just...

I have done some calculation on the noisebox idea.. and found out that you need at least 50 cfm (2 panaflo at 12V, or one 120mm) airflow. Then you still get 5C temp raise for a medium power usage system. And on top of that you would need some adjusting fans to prevent too much under- or over-pressur...

Laptop drives are at 4200 rpm with smaller diameter and mass on the platters. Desktop are 7200 with bigger and heavier platters. You could improve by getting a 5400 rpm 3.5" drive. Samsung example (specs are finally up), 80 Gb, 1 platter at idle (max): 5400: 5.5W (7.0W) 7200: 7.0W (8.6W) Here is ano...

I thought I was the only one around that had one of those. :) But I cant see how you can think it makes too much noise. My problem is not the noise.. but the heat and 12V imbalance. The fan hardly moves at all, no matter the load. Perhaps its cheap ass thermal control that makes them behave this way...

I have two neighbours sitting on the top of the roof on the house next door. They are both exhausts of a new heat exchange system, with huge radial fans (I think). Well.. probably no retailers that have it, yet anyway. You have to go at companies that manufacture heatsinks and such stuff. Here is one: http://www.ptcheaters.com/. Halcyon, man. You're one brave guy. Or you just know what you are doing. :) Strangely enough some articles I've read says that you adjust 12V/5V and 3.3V separately. Would be much better if one could adjust the _relationship_ between these ratings instead. One pot for 12V/5V relationship and one for...

Some updates on this matter. Have been bouncing questions at dukla2000 (My hero that always answers my blabbery posts. :D) in other threads and arrived to the conclusion that the 5V/12V relation holds. Better PSUs handle this better. Not sure however if higher rated PSUs handle it better although th...
