A Thorton is a Barton core except half of the L2 cache has been cut off, possible from a bad fabrication. There are mods online to attempt to reenable the additional cache but I have never personally dont it myself.

Re: Should you really be reading this right now?

It seems to me that as this forum grows, more and more of the activity is occuring during the day, on weekdays. Once upon a time I'd check in on this place once a week to see a new post or two, now I could check every hour. (Oh, and for you new kids out there, the Aug 12, 2002 date is the date we s...

In fact for being so quiet get really good thermal paste and take off the fan! DISCLAIMER: The above is not guaranteed to work, in fact on most modern day CPU...

Hey I just realized something, if you underclocked your CPU when you get a new WU and then normal clocked it would you get more WU's per day in?! Hmmm.......

Too bad we can't use GPUs for this stuff yet, they're loaded with FPU power.
Wait a minute there...according to you my XP 1700 gets 2.93 GFlops of power when in SiSoft Sandra it only benchmarks with about 2.2 GFlops. Am I missing something?

2 things. First, it turns out what I thought were P3 1130s where P4 1.6s. So, right now I'm at 20 Ghz soon to be 22 Ghz (her comp seems to always be in use though :() which will bring me to 36 gigaflops :) (2 flops per athon mhz, 1 per pentium mhz). As for my folding farm... since I finished settin...

Modding BIOS to support lower voltage, possible?

I have a MSI KT3 Ultra with an Award BIOS. I am trying to lower the voltage but unfortunately find that it only goes as low as 1.7v. :( Is there a way I can force it to lower the voltage, without physically modding my CPU?
