Thanks alot for all the input! I must check the direction of the case/CPU fan again, can't remember now... I tested the latest version of MBM, and it doesn't support that board, haven't tried Speedfan though, good idea. I've ordered a L1A from Dorothy, it should arrive tomorrow. The fan will ...

I probably should have mentioned that it is a Slot1 CPU (at least I think it is, it uses some sort of 'slot', like an AGP or PCI slot, and that there is absolutely NO room for a 800/900. It would cost too much as well. Do you (Trip) use a case and/or CPU fan? Thanks for the help! How about you, Mike...

Please help me with cooling a PIII 550MHz in a HP Pavilion!
I've recently introduced a friend of mine to silent computing. He has a PIII 550MHz (dissipating a mere 15W) HP Pavilion (for the first time I feel really happy that I have a Chieftec miditower). There are two fans in the case. One in the PSU and one CPU/case fan. The PSU fan is not that much of a p...

I can only say that I agree that the fan is too loud with the Fan Mate on its lowest setting. I wouldn't call it loud, but it's too loud...(if you understand what I mean... :? ) I solved it by using a 56Ohm resistor (the one you get with the ZM-F1 fan) in series with the Fan Mate. I'm very pleased w...

Yes, you do. NeedIT should have it. (They had it two or three weeks ago...). Better call them in advance though.silvervarg wrote:I am thinking about getting an Antec Sonata case that I will do slight modding on. Unfortunately I don't have any local store where I can look at it.

The new barebone-systems, worth considering at all?
Quite a few new barebone-systems have seen the light of day lately. Does anyone have any experience with them (except from reading reviews on the internet)? Are their noise levels tolerable? AMD or Intel? Can they be modded at all, or is a simple fan swap the only mod which is doable without destroy...

Might be a silly question, but I'll ask it anyway: Is there a reason why you chose "top" side to face "in"? Did you try both? My thought when I felt on the material was to do it the other way around (due to the slightly different structure of the "top" side), meaning that the "bottom" side would fac...

Efficiency of stock Chieftec PSU (HPC 360-202) ???
Does anyone have any info about this PSU, except from what can be read on the label? I so desperatly want a new PSU, but I thought it would be nice to know how bad my current one is (not that the PC is unstable or anything, I'm more concerned about the heat generation, i.e. efficiency). Would be nic...

Which of your fans has three wires and which has two? The only (well not really only, but it'll just get complicated just check fancontrol's & dutch's threads about their fancontrollers and search recommended software for speedfan) to monitor fan rpm is if the fan has this third wire. If I've unders...

Next is a layer of 'rubberized asphalt adhesive back' which is about 40 mil thick. Oh boy, when I saw it today at the hardware store it was just a roll and it appeared to be maybe 3mm thick. 40 mil? How could you you get your case back onto the machine 40 mil = 4 cm of junk on it! That's probably a...

Well, to say that you don't have radiators might have been an overstatement. But AC is still much more common, right? I spent most of my time in Brisbane (Hear the Mighty Lions roar...), which doesn't get as cold as Sydney, that might have been the reason to why I said that about the radiators. [Rea...

We use Celsius here in Sweden too (The scale was acually invented by a swede, Anders Celsius). I still think it is very cold, even when the temp is in Celsius. I went to Australia last year, and when I come to think of it, you guys don't have radiators now, do you? AC is far more common. Opposite to...
