yep, the system is pretty loud right now...I just finished it this weekend, so I'm trying to make sure its stable and get the basic apps up and running before I worry about quieting it down. I think the ati fan is actually rubbing on the little housing...its extremely loud during startup and bios......

anyone have a picture of a NF7-s in a Sonata case

I'm trying to see where the wires for the front port firewire connect on the MB as well as a few other misc case wires (lights, sound inputs, etc)

thanks

Its for HTPC use into a CRT projector. the general consensus is that the radeon series is better than geforce for the last few years and going forward. Quite a few people have had "issues" w/ the 9600. The 9000 is a step backward from the 8500. Other than that, I'm getting a good deal on it and just...

radeon 9500 (non-pro)...can I get away w/

just an 80mm panaflo on a zalman fanbracket @ 7-10v...anyone used this approach? I'm not a gamer..its for HTPC (I've heard 2d video doesn't really drive the card much anyway). I would like to use the factory HS w/ a larger fan blowing on it from the side...I really don't want to buy the zalman heat ...

between these 2, which PS is quieter...

Atect Truepower 380 (packages w/ sonata case) or the fortron FSP300-60PN (120mm fan) Note the PN version not the non-pf version that people say is noisier. I have two systems: one for general useage, and the other is a HTPC. The HTPC needs to be quiet....so I was just wondering which of these two sh...

can you recommend a quiet 92mm fan to cool cpu

its going on a zalman bracket.....I have a vantec (which is horrible) and a zalman which is also pretty loud.

Is the panaflo L1a in the 92mm version pretty quiet?

Preferrably not papst...because they are too expensive from my local source.

easiest way to attach fan to the system?

I've got some fans w/ bare leads that I would like to connect to 4 pin full size connectors....what the easiest (and still being safe...don't want the lead to fall out and short something) way to do this?

Thanks

my way

you mean the fans are tapped in off of regular full size 4 pin power connectors? If so, this is what I did, but YMMV. just get a small screwdrive (glasses screw size) and use that to release the pins from the 12v line and the 12v ground. Then just switch the wires on that connector, so that the wire...

Zalman 92mm fan & Bracket vs. Volcano 6cu......

I current have a xp1500 (not overclocked) being cooled by a volcano 6. The volcano is by far the loudest thing in the system. I also have one of the zalman kits in the closet (no HS, just the bracket, fan, and resistor to reduce fan speed). The volcano 6 is controlled by a zalman fan mate on full sp...

How many have your pc sitting on carpet vs desk/ hard floor?

Just curious if I would see a decrease in temps by placing my pc on a board or something hard rather than the carpet. The idea being that cases has the intake for the front fan at the very bottom of the case, so if you are on carpet, the case feet don't life the pc up enough to let air flow in from ...

I'm not that chinsy....1700...please : ) Actually I've got 2 machines one is still using the 1500xp...which I'll probably put a 2200 in since they're so cheap...everything else on the machine is ok. The barton will be for a new machine I'm about to build. Quick question as it pertains to the barton ...

do amd's still run hotter than Intels?

specifically, I'm looking to build a HTPC and due to price I would rather use AMD. I know in the past AMD's required more power, thus put out more heat, but is that really the case today? I'm looking at AMD 2400's and up to Barton 2800's (trying not to break the bank, but still get good speed) vs In...

Now I'm hooked, Last night I removed the northbridge fan, added a fan mate to the volcano (I haven't received the sk-7 or panaflo yet)..running at full 11v since its just a 60mm fan still.....I'll back that down once I get the better HS & 80mm fan on. I also changed my two generic case fans to 5v......

I hacked up the front and back of the case this weekend & removed restrictions from th...

Quiet pc as compared to dell...

I have (as I'm sure most of you have at one point) a couple of dells that I use at work, and a system I built myself. The 2 dells at work are pretty quiet (some high pitched fan whine and electronic hum, but not overly obtrusive)...on the other hand my system at home was not built w/ sound in mind, ...
