Re: Lian Li PC-V354 MicroATX Mini Tower Case

How much space is there between the graphics card and the PSU? Is there enough space for a full-cover water block?

The problem with the Asus A8N32-SLI is that the 2nd PCIe16 slot is the 2nd to bottom. When using the 7900GTX with its double-slot coolers, this means that the video card is basically at the bottom of the motherboard. This means that there is no space for the cables to enter the upper compartment of ...

If I had to do it over again, I would not buy the 180 again. I have the warped front door, but I also have one of the side panels peeling apart. Also, for such a big case, there seems to be a lack of room inside. The placement of the PSU means it is a stretch to plug the 12V 4-pin power cable into s...

Sounds like air in the radiator. Try turning the computer upside down, or at least shift it into different positions for a few seconds. You will probably hear a rush of air bubbles exit the radiator.

Why not just buy a laptop. Those are very quiet. Then I would build a file server, stick it somewhere out of the way so the noise wouldn't be an issue. From what you described, it doesn't sound like you need that much horespower (unless you are designing the next space shuttle.)

I had similar difficulties enabling CnQ on my system. I tried a bunch of steps, and eventually got it working, but don't know exactly which steps were required and which weren't. What I did: 1. Disable Q-fan in BIOS (not sure if this is necessary) 2. I had to install the AMD driver twice. The first ...

Update: Well, temps get better and better. Either these waterblocks are much more difficult to burp, or I forgot how much effort was needed to get the air out of my last watercooling attempt a couple of years ago. Shaking and turning the computer for all its worth seems to have dislodged whatever ai...

Re: My Reserator 1+ experience

I think that this should be setting off alarm bells that the issue is the flow in your loop to the CPU rather than the capacity of the Res to radiate the heat. The cards will be pumping out at least as much as the CPU, so ask yourself why the Res can keep the GPUs cool but not the CPU? If your CPU ...

did you use distill water or just the coolant? when you said 2 loops, you mean you set up the zalman in parallel instead of 1 serial loop? Why don't you set up the zalman w/ - 1046 to CPU - CPU to NB - NB to video card 1 - video card 1 to video card 2 - video card 2 back to the zalman I am using Fl...

Get a faster CPU. ffdshow is CPU-dependent. Also, try scaling back on some of the post-processing. If you haven't already, do a search for ffdshow on the HTPC section of AVS forum. And be prepared for about a month's worth of reading.

Haven't fired it up. The Aquian is currently in pieces as I figure out how to mount the various components separately in the case.

Koolance Aquian and Antec P180, a poor match

Just a heads up for those who are thinking about the Koolance Aquian. I just purchased the Aquian and the Antec P180 case. Still waiting for my CPU (AMD Athlon64x2 4800+) but I have been test-fitting the parts I do have. Motherboard is Asus A8N-SLI with 2 Geforce 6800GT in SLI. The bad news: The Koo...

What about this:

I am also planning on watercooling my new setup. I also want to keep everything inside, and I came upon the Koolance site which showed their new Aquian internal watercooling kit. Should fit in the P180. Couple that with their Nvidia GPU/memory cooler, a northbridge cooler, and you should have a pret...

I have an Aopen P-M board in a Silverstone LC11 case, and so far I am not too impressed. Biggest problem is that there is really no space between the lowest slot and the bottom of the case. And of course the lowest slot is used for the AGP card. This means: 1) The Zalman VF-700 VGA cooler won't fit ...

It will fit fine. However, the RAM chips are very close to the GPU, so the stick-on RAM heatsinks that come with the Zalman won't fit without modification. I used a Dremel to cut down some of the fins on the RAM sinks to clear the Zalman fan.
