For that sort of setup I'd guess just a hole in the back so there isn't a buildup of hot air over time would do just fine.
Just one point though - I doubt the bios of any mobo supporting a 500MHz AMD processor will be capable of seeing any more than a 120GB drive at it's full capacity.

Basically, there are 2 ways to send a digital audio signal - optical or coaxial. The quality is pretty much identical, so which you prefer to use probably comes down to what connectors you have available on the amplifier you're sending the signal to. My AV receiver has 5 optical inputs and only 1 co...

The Abit AN8 Ultra mobo has heatpipe NB cooler and optical in/out, and is a lot cheaper (assuming you can live with optical instead of coaxial of course). The P180 is just about available in the UK now. Overclockers.co.uk have it listed for pre-order now, as do Overclock.co.uk with stock due next we...

I know KoolnQuiet do the S12's. Again, I've not seen them at any of the big online shops yet so no cheap deals yet :( I don't have one (yet), but in all the reviews I've seen (and all the posts here) it seems to be the best you can buy at the minute. Point taken about the P180 looks, but then simple...

Hey Graeme I've never found overclockers to be the cheapest for anything! That said, the P180 hasn't been out that long and I've not found anyone else stocking it yet. Another decent alternative is the Antec SLK3000B, which Ebuyer have for £25 (code 83044). For the difference in price you could also...

Have you tried cpudyn?
I think that could be what you need.
There's a thread on the Gentoo Linux forums about it.

For measuring power draw, I got something from Maplins for about £15 a year or so ago. Works a treat. It's been quite amusing seeing how much power things like the fridge and tv use too! :) I don't have the product code handy, but I remember posting it a while back. A quick search of my posts for so...

I was thinking more about the value for money :) A drive with more platters will be slightly hotter and louder than a drive with fewer platters within the same drive family . You cannot make this assumption between different manufacturers or even different drive families from the same manufacturer. ...

The biggest Samsung drive is only 160GB whereas 300GB Seagate drives are available. Having said that, you could probably get 2 x 200GB Seagate drives (ST3200822AS) for about the same price as 1 300GB (ST3300831AS), so that would be what I'd go for. Some people are saying that Seagate ship SATA drive...

Sadly it is the idle whine that is annoying you so drive suspension won't really give you the noise reduction you're looking for. Your options are: 1) Acoustipack (or similar) dampening for the sonata case. 2) Hard drive enclosures - silentmaxx, novibes etc 3) Replace the drives with Samsung or Seag...

My current cpus' temp is around 49 deg. cels. I assume this is load temp not idle. My dual 2.0GHz Xeons run around 50C at full load with MCX603V's and 80mm Panaflo L1A fans @ ~9v. I don't think you'd see more than a 5C increase in cpu temp if you dropped the fans to 7v, which is perfectly fine. Tho...

I saw this for sale at scan.co.uk just last week and was certainly tempted to give it a try. Fan clicking sounds a bit worrying though.
Shame I didn't see it last month when I needed a psu with EPS 12v connector for a dual Xeon at work. At least I could have tested it on their budget not mine

Anyone got any ideas where I can buy a Black Knight case in the UK or somewhere that will ship it here at a reasonable price. The best I've got so far is ewiz.com and they're asking $150 for Fedex economy shipping. Fedex priority shipping is over $200. There's no chance I'll be paying 4 time...

I personally don't rate 120mm fanned psu's that highly. The 2 I have had (a 350w fortron and a 420w noiseblocker) have both been disappointing. I think having the big intake over a hot cpu must be the problem, so I won't buy another psu with a bottom intake fan. I know that makes no difference to yo...
