Thanks for the rumour control! :)

I'll run my drive for a month and let you know what I find...

Oh... this doesn't sound good.

I just got a 1TB WD10EADS for my media centre PC.
Unfortunately, I can't find any utilities on the WD site to turn off the head parking... (Am I just being dumb?)

Does anyone know if this problem has been solved for this particular drive?

:(

Well maybe "whine" is the wrong word...
it's a kind of clicking whirring noise that sounds a bit like ultra-fast
morse code. It's definitely the drive as it synchronises with the
drive light.

SilentDrive enclosure with Barracuda 7500 SATA - too hot?

Before I install it i need some advice, if any of you have experince with this... 1) Can DTemp monitor the temperature on the Barracuda? 2) Will...

Very noisy Antec TruePower 480w

Hi there, I'm on a quest for a silent PC and currently the only thing making any noise in it is the very loud Antec True480 PSU. It has 2 fans... An 80mm at the back and a 120mm in the base. I took out the 80mm and it's still just as noisy. The RPM on the remaining fan goes up from 1800 to 3000+ onc...

Hi, I too have an Antec True Power which is very noisy.
Please could you let me know exactly how you modified
your PSU as I'd love to do the same!
Cheers,
Dan.

Useful diagnostic tip - thanks! I don't think the fans are running high. Now that I'm home from work I can give you all a bit more info... CPU Temp = 30C MoBo Temp = 33C CPU Fan RPM = 1360 PSU Fan RPM = 1748 Case Fan RPM = 2177 The Case Fan is powered from the P4C800 MoBo so RPMs should be linked to...

Could I disable one of the fans? Would that make it quieter? Are the stock fans good quality (i.e. ultra quiet)? Would there be a reduction in noise if I replaced them? If so what should I replace them with? I have three case fans in my Coolermaster 101 case (back, top & front/bottom) although only ...
