ive had this, it was the rear of the fan blades being near the punched out grill off the case, changing the fan to a shadow wings, which has different blade design and more standoff at the rear fixed it.
the other fan was fine in clean air...

the evga 850w g2 ran heaven benchmark, and aida64 for a quite a long time before fan kicked in
4.5ghz sandy and r390x which outputs 250 300w range by itself, may have had a bunch of drives plugged in too

my current psu is a akasa 650watt (700watt peak) i think, its pretty old but its big and heavy and was well reviewed back in the day :). highish wattage psu recommendations?
Just looking for advice, my current psu might be the cause of a annoying issue, sometimes when i power on the pc, it pops the trip/surge protection or whatever, which kills that part of the houses electricity until its reset :\ if i do bite the bullet and get another psu, im looking for 650+ watts, ...

1156 heatsinks will work fine, physicaly there the same size, mounting holes etc
but which one to get is more difficult, on the lower end the coolmaster hyper 212 is really popular £20 is around its cost

my experience with zalman is the copper heatsinks, or the flower/ \|/ style ones the qualtity of just the heatsink was beautiful, the fit and finish etc. pretty much perfect. i guess thats still the same?

just a small update without pics :o noisest fan in the system is the 80mm outside the psu, so im gonna build a little duct/house thing to quiten it down soon :) installed xpeee on the raptor and had abit of a play with overclocking, which doesnt really effect noise for me :D. so far it seems ok with...
