Re: Two Amp Projects: 8x100W DIY & H/K 770 Restoration

Oh, I'm never too far away Mike. Always floatin' around in the background.

Dang, I think my PCB is 330mm wide...just a little too big for that enclosure. Will have to hunt and see if they're available in other sizes. How sturdy is that top panel? I've got some heavy iron to mount to it.

Re: Two Amp Projects: 8x100W DIY & H/K 770 Restoration

That's some beautiful work Mike. You should do a piece giving readers a little tour of your whole audio setup. I think people would find that interesting.

Where'd you source that enclosure for the 8x100W? I'm gathering parts for an amp build of my own, and I like the looks of that.

As someone who actually has built and operated a submerged oil PC, my semi-random thoughts: -You'll need to include "oil vapor" as one of the downsides, if you're thinking about an un-sealed system. It smells terrible, and potentially has health impacts. -The viscosity of even the thinnest mineral o...

One take on the floating floor idea: You don't need to cover the entire floor with the foam. Most commercial floating floor assembles use a system of resilient piers to support the floor structure. The open space around the piers between the floating floor and the subfloor below is typically either ...

If I'm stressing a bench-built system, as opposed to just sitting it there long enough to make sure it all works, I will usually plug in a 120 and let it blow across the board. Doesn't have to be anything complicated in terms of rigging, just plug it in and set it on it the table blowing towards the...

Do you still have an oil box running? Nope. Disassembled it when I graduated college and moved. I don't know if I would worry about getting all of the fluid drained. I would just dump whatever you can out of the tank, then refill it with your new fluid. Whatever is left inside the tubing within the system will just be diluted by all of the new fluid and won't really have an impact on anything....
