Now that's interesting. I have been thinking along those lines, but I haven't quite dared to do it because I feared the case would become unstable. Have you had any such problems?cut out the strut and put in an Aerocool HT101 ducted to the back. Works pretty well.

Best socket 754 cooler fitting in a Silverstone LC10M
Hi guys, I have just bought most of the parts for an HTPC build. The stock socket 754 will be exchanged for something else. Because the socket is new to me, I don't know much about good coolers. There are some size restrictions in the case. There is a strut right above where the heatsink is, and the...

i watercool my dual xeon (2.4Ghz) rig. Radiator with two Nexus Case fans at 12V .. very much silent. There's another 12cm case fan in the back of the case. CPU temperatures right now: cpu1: 36C cpu2: 38C (100% load, folding for SPCR) You know, those temperatures at load suggest you can lower the sp...

Without stability problems, don't worry -- most VPUs run happily at those temps and above. What you should think about is the case airflow; 45C is pretty high. (Browse the forums to find tips on what to do about it.) A high-quality thermal paste will save perhaps three or four degrees at the most; a...

Re: Zalman NB47 install question... ( seems loose )
It doesn't need to be firm to work well. Don't worry about it as long as there are no stability problems.
If you do want the fit to be firmer, you should be able to put a flat piece of metal between the northbridge chip and the heatsink.

That's because nobody runs 2.5" drives in RAID 0. The next post is gonna be "Naw man, I run teh Ra1d0 for sho, wit the not3bo0k drive because its 1337 to teh M4X!!!!" Seriously, you buy a slow, quiet drive, and run it in RAID? why bother? I can think of two reasons: 1. You want the performance of a...

It's been my opinion that a decent, slow moving and well balanced fan will not benefit much from decoupling, especially when compared to a normal mounting on a solid and sturdy case. Decoupling is beneficial for some fans. I shared your opinion before, but after decoupling a 120mm ADDA fan and actu...

I play games, too (mainly BF1942 and BFV), and I have no stability problems. The answer to your question 6 (higher number of failures) might be that a lot of us are really pushing the lower end of the ventilation/airflow envelope. The Phantom behaves really nicely with good airflow. When the airflow...
