cut out the strut and put in an Aerocool HT101 ducted to the back. Works pretty well.
Now that's interesting. I have been thinking along those lines, but I haven't quite dared to do it because I feared the case would become unstable. Have you had any such problems?

I obviously have to embarrass (sp?) myself for bumping my own post. Come one, someone must have been in need for a not-too-tall, good, and, quiet cooler for socket 754 processors :?

Best socket 754 cooler fitting in a Silverstone LC10M

Hi guys, I have just bought most of the parts for an HTPC build. The stock socket 754 will be exchanged for something else. Because the socket is new to me, I don't know much about good coolers. There are some size restrictions in the case. There is a strut right above where the heatsink is, and the...

No problems with NB overheating if you use the Zalman. Don't know about compatibility with Ninja, though.

Well, almost at least -- it's a few millimeters less, but shouldn't cause you much trouble. If it does, use a 92mm instead.

Without stability problems, don't worry -- most VPUs run happily at those temps and above. What you should think about is the case airflow; 45C is pretty high. (Browse the forums to find tips on what to do about it.) A high-quality thermal paste will save perhaps three or four degrees at the most; a...

Re: Zalman NB47 install question... ( seems loose )

It doesn't need to be firm to work well. Don't worry about it as long as there are no stability problems.

If you do want the fit to be firmer, you should be able to put a flat piece of metal between the northbridge chip and the heatsink.

Zalman's NB47 fits on NF7-S v2.0 (use them myself). Depending on the CPU cooler, you may have to snip of a few of the fins from the NB cooler. It's made of aluminum, so it's very easy to cut.

I have never used a Seasonic PSU, but I think you can keep it if you don't have any problems with it. We can't tell you what to think of it. If it works and fulfills your requirements with regards to performance and noise (or lack thereof) -- be happy!

Another reason for not bending heatpipes: The wick in some of them are not soft, but rather made of a hard, porous material ("sintered" may be the correct term). If you try to bend it, it will break and seriously decrease the heatpipe's performance. Check out the type of pipe before bending...

It's been my opinion that a decent, slow moving and well balanced fan will not benefit much from decoupling, especially when compared to a normal mounting on a solid and sturdy case. Decoupling is beneficial for some fans. I shared your opinion before, but after decoupling a 120mm ADDA fan and actu...

I play games, too (mainly BF1942 and BFV), and I have no stability problems. The answer to your question 6 (higher number of failures) might be that a lot of us are really pushing the lower end of the ventilation/airflow envelope. The Phantom behaves really nicely with good airflow. When the airflow...

On my computer (XP-M 2500+ at 2300 MHz), the voltage according to MBM 5 is 0.03 to 0.05 V lower than the BIOS setting. My motherboard is an NF7-S v2.0.

Ditch the floppy drive and slap the pump in the drive cage. You probably don't need the floppy anyway, and USB sticks are better for portability.
