I just purchased 2 of the S12 380W ones. I should be receiving them tomorrow 3/16/2006. I should have an assessment by Friday. I hate how it's hard to describe sound on the internet. I shouldn't have said whine. I really don't know how to describe it. It just gives off some frequency like the old CR...

That's funny. I've noticed this with my stock PS in my Antec SLK1650B. When on, has this oscillating whine which has a recurring time of maybe 15 seconds? It will go up... then down and repeat.

Ironically, I am going to replace it with an S12. :)

XP90 or Ninja for P150 and AMD x2 3800+

I already have the P150 and AMD x2 3800+ processor. I've been reading about different heatsinks to use. I've pretty much narrowed it down to the Thermalright XP-90 or Scythe Ninja. The Ninja just looks so huge. And it's fairly heavy. I'm leaning towards the XP-90, but from some of the threads, there...

It's been awhile since I've posted here (1-2 years?). Anyways, I picked up a P150 from Fry's over the weekend since they were on sale for $129+tax. However, I was concerned because I noticed Fry's has had this P150 "batch" (they had about 15-20) since Oct/Nov (I saw the shipping label on the pallet)...

They claim "Reduced keystroke noise." I currently use (at work) a Dell QuietKey. It almost reminds me of the V...

Cramped? I feel sorry for you guys down there. All the local Fry's in the Bay Area (about 5 of them?) are so spacious. The 2 I've been to in Arizona are also very spacious. But then again, the first, "original" Fry's I used to visit in Sunnyvale was "tiny-tiny". That was back around the late 1980s I...

Unfortunately, when my former ISP went south, so did my files. No customers were able to get their files back. How crappy is that? I'm glad I wasn't running a business with that ISP. So.. sorry, but I don't have the wav file anymore. :( As for the 180GXP, I loved the performance. However, I am very ...

Bummer. I have the same problem. I just bought myself a Lexar 256MB JumpDrive (USB 2.0 flashdrive). It works great when it's plugged into the back (m/b panel). Connecting it to the front of the Antec 835-II case was a no-go. I've e-mailed Antec support. I'll let you know what becomes of it. It's a s...

I bought an IBM 180GXP and returned it because of the "chirping" noise. It was a plenty fast drive, however. So, I would recommend the Barracuda 7200.7 or even the Barracuda V. Back to IBM, I keep seeing deals now for the IBM/Hitachi drives. But from those who research on the net know about IBM's pa...

I never did get around to removing the SeaShield from the IV and putting it on the 7200.7. Do I think it has some effect on the seek noise? I would tend to believe so. I still want to try this out. In my opinion, idle noise is about the same. The seek noise difference is very obvious (7200.7 being a "notch or two" higher).

That NEC LCD-1760V looks "mighty" attractive. It has great specs. For me, I like to game a lot so response time is "crucial". The 1760V has that great 16ms response time. I don't think LCDs larger than 17" can match that timing. So, going from a 19" CRT (18" true value) to a 17" is only a 1" drop. B...

I find that interesting about the AAM Patent. I didn't know one existed. If there is such a beast, then shouldn't only one hard drive maker be using this feature? Or perhaps you have to pay a licensing fee? The drives were released in this order: IV, V, 7200.7. So if the V series doesn't have AAM, t...

I was curious about this 180GXP drive since people have been talking about it, so I picked one up 2 days ago (60GB model).
