I have a fujitsu-siemens D1562. I personally don't use silent fan but thats because my PC is always under 100% load running folding@home. It works as you have decribed it and whether it is of any use to you will depend how you plan to use the PC. My setup is - D1562, P4 3.0C + aerocool DP102 + panaf...
Hi Petr, Thankyou for the explaination. I understand how you derived at the results but still think that an attempt should be made at measuring the power. It is not that I doubt your calculations but the figures supply by both AMD and INTEL. As an example AMD specifies the XP2400+ has a maximum Tpow...
Here's it's almost a case of identity theft. Not quite because they did not take the name or logo, but they really did take just about everything else, and the design is so close to the 7000 that it could be mistaken for a 7000. Also, the copycat in this case has no identity or presence in the mark...
Hmmm..... I seem to record not too long ago Thermalright was going to sue Themaltake because the Silent Booster looks similar to the SLK series. I also record most people here disagree with Thermalright so why all this fuss? A good cooler is derive from a combination of factors - looking similar is ...
Whilst looking for a micro atx case, I stumbled onto this very interesting case. According to compucase the 8cm fan can be replace by a 9cm fan. It should appeal to those who wanted a CPU duct but don't know where to start.
I am thinking of getting one but have read conflicting reports on the forums. So, a quick straw poll. Are you satisified with the noise / silence levels of your Enermax Noisetaker? Please state which model you have (if possible). If disatifised, please state the nature of the noise / problem / area...
If you have Frequently Asked Question that you'd like to see in the FAQ, let me know, but also let me know what the answer should be. One question I know I missed is an nVidia vs. ATI FAQ. I'm not qualified enough to provide a good answer to that question. Just a thought..... Q: I want to make my c...
Could you tell me exactly what you did to take care of the temperature? (including parts) I don't want to send you off on a wild goose chase as what I used is basically right for my setup. I just want to point out that choosing the best heatsink and fan will not give the best result if it is in the...
I have used both a Thermalright SP94 with Panaflo 92 1BX and Zalman 7000Alcu on a P4 3.0C and cannot recommend either of them unless you have a case with optimize airflow. I have a Lian Li PC60 and althought both coolers can be set to start quiet, you will have to ram up the fan after loading your ...

Looking at your sig. I going to guess the noise is caused by the 74G RAPTOR. You can verify this by placing the drive on a piece of foam on the bottom of the case. If the hum goes away then the BQE is not going to solve your problem.
After a long chat with Ralf Hutter, we have come to the conclusion that the dual-12V lines are not the only source of voltage for the P4. RH mentioned that with earlier lower powered P4s, they actually could run without the dual-12V line plugged into the motherboard; just that when you try to put a...
This is were I got the idea of using a clamp meter - I had originally thought about building a circuit with 10 meters to measure the current of a motherboard. Good old GOOGLE can to the rescue.
If both statements are true it means the rest of the system (MB, VGA, HDD, FAN) only draws 15.5W :!: . With everything at idle, isn't that reasonable? The short answer is I don't know. I am trying to find out by running these little 'experiments' and I am making certain assumptions from the results...
System power draw was 131W (AC) - efficiency of the Seasonic SS300FS PSU powering this system is 72% at this power level (from previous testing results). This means it was delivering 94W to the system: 6.6A on the P4-2.8 = 78.5W . If both statements are true it means the rest of the system (MB, VGA...

I suspect those will not draw 43W, VGA & HDD at idle. Not sure of RAM draw power regardless...
The motherboard and RAM should draw at least 20W, seagate rates the barracuda at 9.8W idle - will the VGA draw 13W? If we assume the VGA only draws 5W then the CPU draws 57W.
Looks like this method has its problems... The reason I took AC measurements and ran a minimal system was ensure the measurments taken with the clamp meter were reasonable . 2) we may be seeing the power efficiency variances in CPU samples that the AMD engineer went on about. Very likely, I record ...
The current to the P4 is supply by the 4 Pin connector on the motherboard. Perhaps not all of it. That could be the case but the measurement taken when the CPU was idle was P4 2.4B fujitsu D1562 512MB DDR ATX 20 Pin Current/A Voltage/V Power/W 4 * Vcc 1.44 5.12 7.37 3 * 3.3V 3.45 3.34 11.52 1...
You know, reading your posts reminded me that in fact, I have a Fluke 36 Clamp Meter as well! (On loan from PowerGyoza, who used to be very active at SPCR in the past...) Dug it up, caibrated the Ammeter to zero outside the house, then measured the 12V lines on the test board running a P4-2.8 (533)...
Besides, how were you able to isolate the power to the CPU section alone? What was your load? And how did you measure AC power? (Not nitpicking -- curious about your test setup). AC power was measured using a Power Meter similar to the Kill-A-Watt meter you use. DC current was measured using a CLAM...
A new link added to the Information category of SPCR's Web Links , called CPUHeat & CPUMSR provides tables of ACTUAL Intel CPU wattage under max stress such as CPUBurn : I find it difficult to accept their calculated results without empirical data. They could have measure the current drawn by the C...
I hate Samba. For me it just seems to be one of those things where I need to fool around with the config and keep fiddling with it until I mysteriously get it working, and stop right there, afraid to touch it ever again. Probably because I don't know all of what I am doing. I feel the exact same wa...
Sound like a hardware problem. Take the HDD from the server and plug it into the one of the blades, boot and run throught the hardware config you should have the farm up and running without too much problems.
Just fair warning CharlieChan -- you better watch your backside cuz I'm coming for ya!!! Prepare to feel the breeze as superior folding power blows by you in October -- 2023! Dave Only 7049 more days to go -- can't wait to celebrate! OMG  I better get that old i386 out of the attic - ...
Does your system also have onboard video? I'm just curious, since this would be a great opportunity to compare power usage at the plug for onboard video versus with your card installed. No. It is a Nforce2 ultra 400 motherboard with onboard RAID, SATA and Firewire. Both RAID and SATA are disable at...
