Sapphire Radeon HD 4850 TOXIC and Accelero S1 Rev2 ?
Hello, Is it compatible with Accelero S1 Rev2, without replacing heatsinks on VGA? I like that this card has already all heatsinks attached (RAM, etc.) - less work, less chance to break something, and I have read that Accelero S1 included heatsinks can have problems sticking (falling off). Card revi...

AMD has changed the CPU info. Look at this:

(scroll down to the message by Installer)
Some time ago I was even thinking that ADV4400DAA6CD has 128KB less L1 cache.

~El~Jefe~, you are not going crazy. In Google you can find information about this, but I still think consumers have been too quiet. When I had the NVIDIA card I was using 15" CRT on 800x600 res. The picture was blurry and colors bleak compared to ATI. Totally unacceptable. Never had a Matrox card. I...

How about the GTO Ultimate version (I suppose it's the old version) with no fan?
http://www.sapphiretech.com/en/products ... p?gpid=120
then I probably wouldn't need to do the heatsink modding.

Try to get a refund if possible (probably impossible if you live in certain countries) or sell it. Another option: just throw it in the garbage can :) A large problem with computer hardware is that it's often impossible to test it before buying. Recommendations in forums are not very reliable, peopl...

Sapphire X800 GTO Ultimate and GTO^2 modded with ZM80D-HP
I read in this thread the newer GTO Ultimate cards have a fan: http://forums.silentpcreview.com/viewtopic.php?t=27795 Obviously the fan was added because the cards were overheating. I want a fanless card and if I manage to get it I am a little worried about this. My computer has only 2 fans: PSU (80...

Having enjoing the silence of Barracuda IV 40Gb many years, I was disappointed with SP2504C. Whine is minimal, but the lower frequency (humming like a fan) idle noise is rather loud, but not very irritating (compared to Barracuda IV, which is almost inaudible, except some idle whine (may be develope...

My ASRock 939Dual-SATA2 motherboard has noticeable coil whine that only starts after Windows is loaded and only with LOW CPU load. Not sure I'm going to live with it. Anyone else has the same? Update: I have identified that the whining starts only after installing the Creative Audigy 2 Platinum driv...

why would you want to use an 80mm fan with a SCNJ-1000? it seems a 120mm would fit better, provide better airflow, and be quieter... Never had a 120mm fan, but the 2 92mm ones I have tested were considerably louder than 80mm. BTW, with 80mm fan the CPU temps were even lower than with 92mm at simila...

Need X2 4400+ motherboard and video card advice
Ideally I'd like this system to have only 2 80mm fans @~1000rpm: for PSU and CPU. What would be the best MB and fastest PCI-E x16 video card for a stable 24/7 system? I'd like an ATI based video card. Currently I have a similary cooled P4 1.6A Northwood system with Sapphire Radeon 9600 Pro AGP with ...

Room for growth? Upgrading a very quiet PC
Hi, I would like to upgrade my almost inaudible, quietened PC, but I definitely want to have the same level of quietness. I am quite power hungry, ideally I would like an Athlon X2 4800+ or Athlon FX-55, but these would probably need faster and louder fans to cool properly or Zalman TNN 500AF, which...

2nd HDD recommendation?
I have quietened my PC to the point that it is barely audible, it has only 2 80mms fans (CPU and PSU), each spinning at around ~1100rpm (for my standards, even 1400rpm was too noisy). I have Barracuda IV 40GB and after the modding I could hear the annoying idle noise, then I put it on a foam and it ...

gustavs_a Looking at your spec you have 2 case fans at 5V, presumably one input and one exhaist. As a result there is very little cooling air in your case, at anything other than idle all your temp controlled fans will speed up, but they will not achieve much, they just stir up the hot air. I think...

1) A very slight change in sound pitch (from fan speeding up) when changing from 0 to 100% CPU usage. I can't hear it now, but yesterday evening when it was very quiet I could notice it. I don't think the PSU is defective, the old PSU had the same thing more pronounced. 2) Yes it's Seasonic Super Si...

I'm trying to modify the PSU, I want to bypass the PSU fan controller to fix the revving up and down issue and use the voltage from MB sysfan connector. I haven't replaced the stock 80mm SuperRed fan yet, but even with the stock fan it's much too fast. I don't know how much voltage comes from the sy...

How much resistance do I need?
The Zalman Fanmate1 still doesn't slows down the fan enough, I would like to make it 2-3 times slower (and then fine tune the speed with the Zalman controller). What resistance resistor do I need to use? Please post a formula. Thank you!

Today received the PSU. I am quite pleased with the noise level even with the stock fan, it is quieter that my old Codegen 350W PSU. The fan ir rotating at much lower RPM, but makes a bit of clicking noise. So far it's working at very stable RPM, no noticeable revving up and down with changing CPU u...

Re: Mod
I have ordered the Super Silencer 460W, Zalman fanmate controller and the Panaflo L1A, I couldn't find the M1A in any european sites.
1) How do I test if PSU is not overheating?
2) How to make a PSU fresh air duct?
Thank you,
Gustavs

Re: Mod
FYI, the difference between 24 and 32cfm is 7 db according to panasonic's specs, and the panaflo M1A pushes 32cfm, same as the stock fan (assuming that info is correct, I thot it was 35cfm). I am talking about replacing the stock fan with PAPST 8412N/2GML (26,5CFM, 19dB), I don't want to use a 32CF...
