I've been running a Rev "D" Sempron 2800 for a few months with great results. No, it doesn't have "C+Q", nor is the multiplier unlocked to "step up" - default is 8, you can set it lower if you want. One thing nobody's metioned is that these bargain chips can O/C like a mad dog! (I know that's not wh...

I'm sure that Zalman NB47J would be fine on just about anything. I'm using one on my DFI UT nF3 250Gb 754 board, running with a Sempron 2800+ that's O/C'd by 800MHz, and it barely gets warm. It's been lapped and I'm using AS Ceramique on it, as I usually do. I've used these things on 5 different bui...

Alglove - The 2800+ Sempron indeed only has a 1.6 clockspeed "out of the box", but is easily capable of much, much more without a lot of effort. Yesterday I finished 3 days of stability testing on my 2800+ that is running at 2.34 GHz at 1.54V. This chip runs at 31-32C idle, 42C extreme load with a Z...

I'd also like to see a better review of this case. The cooling system is interesting, but I agree with Oldabe that warm air may be getting sucked in from the 120MM exhaust. I see they are still using ADDA fans. I have a PC-65b case, and found the stock ADDAs to be loud with mediocre airflow. I repla...

I have my system in an SC-135 from MNPCTech, and I consider the price money well spent. The workmanship is "top-notch". I don't even know that you would find a need to foam the case. I find mine extremely quiet. The only noise I hear is airflow "whoosh", there is no mechanical noise from the Globe 1...

I'm running a 1.0 version of this board in an HTPC application right now. As has been said, the earlier versions had O/Cing adjustments, and mine ran all summer at 11 x 195 without a hitch. (At the time I was using a 9800NP for video) I've found it to be a stable board. It's not the greatest overclo...

That's an interesting idea - the front IS nice and simple. I did a system for my G/F using a Raidmax case that had an acrylic front like this one, and I didn't want to cut it because it looked so nice. It had the same intake problem, but came with 2 x 80MM fans on the side panel for intakes. I repla...

Globe Thermistor Location?
I just moved my main system into one of MNPCTech's excellent SC135 cases, which uses 3 Globe 120MM fans. These fans are equipped with a thermistor on a 13" lead, which Bill zip ties to the grill on each fan. Although my case also has a Mitron 3.5" rheobus, I'd like to take advantage of this feature ...

Drive Suspension in Lian-Li Cage?
I've got a "fleet" of WD drives in my 3 systems. I always bought WD for the speed and reliability - I've never had a problem with one. Out of 4 drives I only have a noise issue with one drive as follows: My main system is presently in a Lian-Li PC-65B. It's got two HD's, a 1000JB and an old 20Gb 520...

I'd like to thank everybody who contributed to this thread for their input. Yes, you have a front opening for an 80MM fan, but by looking at the pics you've taken I'd say it's almost 50% closed due to metal area. I think the bottom opening would work better for you, and would be easier to do, especially since you don't seem to want to alter the looks of the case. I had a si...

Mats, this case has a hole directly over the CPU location on the MB. It came with a plastic grill and duct system that was made for small heatsinks, such as the stock AMD. I found that the SK7/Panaflo combo worked better without the duct, so I removed it. Tibors, I've thought about 80MM's as intakes...

I've always wondered about this, but I've also seen many either totally negative or mediocre reviews on their site. I think a lot of it depends on how many reviews there are for the product. I've also seen items with one or two stars where they are the only reviews for the product. But hey, it's the...

That's a floppy on the far left. I still find them useful for BIOS upgrades, etc. The system sits in a vertical position on the floor under the TV on a rug. As I'm usually sitting about 8-10' away, minor noise isn't an issue. Those aren't isolators - if you look at the pic I posted earlier, you"ll s...

Trip - The PSU fan is also a 60MM, but it's thermally control and very quiet. I've only heard it crank up once, and, naturally, then it was loud. The PSU is a Sparkle/Forton. Here's a shot of the inside, with the DVD drive swivelled up - a nice feature of this case, the HD cage moves the same way! ...

Trip, I have no clue about the CFM on the fan that came with the case. It's doing a good job, I can barely hear it during the quiet parts of a DVD or when I'm running the PC as a jukebox and I'm choosing music. As I said, the mods I've done must be working, because the system is running pretty cool....

Sam, believe me, there is no room for an 80MM on the back of the case! I thought about using a 60/80 adapter, but there's no room for that setup either, as it would be hitting the CPU sink. The area between the backplate and the top of the case is so small that it's a tight fit even for the 60mm! I'...

Well, I'm inclined to agree with you, Tibors, but the case in question doesn't leave any other options! I did a lot of research this afternoon at many vendor sites. Many places don't list noise levels, so I was kinda going by CFM ratings, which, as we all know, aren't always to be trusted! SVC and D...

Quiet 60MM Fan - Does One Exist?
I just built an HTPC using a small case which only has room for a 60MM exhaust fan. It came with a Sparkle 200W PSU which also has a 60MM fan that is thermally controlled. (I bought the case about a year ago, and I can't remember the name it was sold under! It's black and silver, has a door over the...

I overclock my systems - why turn down a free performance boost? I recently installed an Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe board in my main system, and it's running an unlocked Barton 2500 at 2.2GHz at 1.725V with an SLK800A/Titan aluminum fan pushing 38CFM without much noise. The case is a Lian-Li PC65B with all...
