Re: What is the thinnest 80 fan?

Thank you, gentlemen. I didn't realize 15mm x 80mm fans existed.

This information totally solves my problem. Those 15mm Panaflos look like just the ticket.

Much appreciated! :)

Does anyone make a reasonably quiet fan that is less than 25mm thick?

Silverstone GD04b/GD05b

Is the 5.25" drive bay cover on the GD05b plastic? In other words, is it going to look shoddy if I don't mount a drive in that position? I'm trying to find a case for an HTPC with no DVD drive (no HDD, either). It is just an m-ITX board, RAM, and PSU. I'd like it to look like a piece of home theater...

Re: Htpc case that matches Denon 3800 series?

Thanks for the note. I like the Silverstone GD05B. It looks pretty conservative (what I'm looking for). It seems like most HTPC cases are funky. It would be great if Denon (and other HT OEMs) would build a case to match their equipment stacks. I'd have to say, the GD05B is the front runner at the mo...

Htpc case that matches Denon 3800 series?

My last HTPC lives in an nMedia 200b and I like it fine. The case feels cheap but it’s good enough and it looks decent. I like the simplicity of it. It’s time for another HTPC and the 200B is discontinued. Here’s what I’m looking for: - Standard audio component width - 80, 92, or 120mm fans (no 40mm...

I have a P182 and the top fan is the only major flaw in the case design, IMO. After trying the fan in both the back and top positions, the rear facing fan seems significantly quieter to me. The P183 is significantly more open in front so maybe the top fan isn't the most significant sound path anymor...

Antec NSK2480B?

The Antec site does not list a black NSK2480 in their product list. Very few mentions of it exist on the net. The mentions I did find with Google, are typically for the silver case with a "b" tagged onto the product name for no apparent reason. ... yet our very own JamieG seems to have one. http://w...

Re: P182 versus Sonata impressions

Thanks for the help, Nick. I like the P182 as well, but you may find your positive impression slightly changes over the course of the weekend (about the lower chamber being brilliant, and having so much room to work in, that is)... :D I see what you mean. It's clear the Antec engineers didn't bother...

If you want to get your CPU or GPU temperatures down, you could always reduce the clock a couple of hundred MHz. You don't have to back the clock off much to reduce the voltage quite a bit and your temps will really sweeten. Of course, if you're a gamer or an over clocker, this won't be a very palat...

P182 versus Sonata impressions

I have a few Sonatas and a Sonata II. This week, I'm using my first P182. The Sonatas have been good cases. They look good, they work well, and they feel like quality. Unfortunately, they are not a quiet case. The modifications I made to the Sonata and Sonata II cases could have been done to any cas...

If your temps are running high, I'd open the filter doors and see if that helps. You should be able to cool a pretty serious system with a P180. If opening the filter doors fixes your temperature issues, you might want to remove the doors entirely. There are legions of people on this site who are ke...

How can I install a Nexus RSF in a P182?

I've removed the Antec fans. How do I install a Nexus in the top? The nexus frame isn't compatible with the tabs on the case top fan mounts.

It looks like I'll either have to bend the tabs or cut the fan webbing.

I have no doubt, you could build a pretty quiet system in that case. I've looked at a lot of Cooler Master cases recently and I don't recall that particular model. It looks good. If you use some quiet components with a reasonably low power consuming system, I'm sure you could get it near silent. It ...

If you're running a fairly low power system, you might be able to get away with just the PSU fan or perhaps the PSU and front case fan. It looks like a good case for a big storage server but a lousy case to make quiet.

I would imagine I could tape up most of the vents and get the air flowing the way it should.

I'd welcome advice as to power shears vs. power nibbler on this case. Will the shear distort the remaining metal significantly? Replacement fan for stock AMD CPU cooler?

Has anyone found a quiet replacement for the stock fans on an AMD CPU cooler? The stock ones aren't very quiet.

Perhaps even an adapter to fit an 80mm fan would do the trick.

What size are these fans? 70mm? They span 2.5" diagonal on the hole centers.
