ah.... my bad. Just, went looking and the board i had seen wasn't even an Asus, lol. http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2005/09/23/msi_nforce410/ I'll have to take a good look at the Asus board when theres more info, the DVI issue doesn't bother me but the PCI-E issue will be a factor. Nice to see some de...

Found a downside (sorry) "TV-out via cable/bracket" http://www.foxconnchannel.com/products_motherboard_2.cfm?pName=6150K8MA-8EKRS Depending on the case the bracket could probably go in the graphics card slot anyway. If i can find this board for sale soon i'll grab it i think. In the last week or so ...

Funnily enough i'm just looking at this, since i got together my new rig. DFI NF4 SLi-D, AMD 3000+, 1 GB, 6600GT, Spinpoint 200Gig, Pioneer DVD Nothing super power hungry, yet the recommended supply is 480Watts ?!? Course, thats for an overclockers board, based on an SLI config (i think / hope) I wa...

I'm about to rework my watercooling setup, mainly as the rad is my main source of noise now. The CSP MAG and ThermoChill PA160 were / are the 2 i'm going for. The main idea behind the rad being that its fitted for a 120mm fan (Papst 4412FGL prefered), and ducts out to a 160mm core. The procooling fo...

I haven't had time to use the drive much yet but so far its comparable to my old Spinpoint (160Gig JVC), the idle noise is different but not substantially better or worse (there were 'good' JVC models from what i remember, so its possible i have one of those). The read / write noise is a lot lower a...

I think heat is going to depend more on how you mount the drive and airflow. It seems to me that almost all of the current 7200 drives run roughly (very roughly) about the same temp but even if the samsung ran 10 degrees cooler is that really the top priority? It would swing it for me, the Diamond ...

I've got one an LC11 now and until i can get a mini-review done i thought i'd post some comments here. Now i can't speak for everyone with an interest in buying a HTPC case but i'll assume i'm not the only one who vitually wanted 'the moon on a stick' ie lots of PCI slots, adequate cooling potential...

Hmmm, yeah its been a while sitting on the drawing board. The main problem is fabricating all the bits for the ducting. Initially i'd wanted to keep it in as few pieces as possible but that proved difficult without the proper tools and at the end of the day i want it to look good, for the few times ...

http://www.wiredzone.com/xq/asp/ic.30359283/qx/itemdesc.htm Yeah, i should probably have mentioned that it needs to raise above 2 PCI slots as well. As for the heatsink issue, i don't think it would be too big a problem. More of an issue is the lack of headroom, something like 7cm above the socket ...

As a side note, has anyone seen a PCI express riser card anywhere? I'm thinking that a 939 mATX board would go very well in this case
http://www.silverstonetek.com/products-lc11.htm
but it comes with risers, for AGP.
EDIT: Bit of an update Silverstone have no plans for a PCI-E riser

Yep, no problem with offering up other options and the ProCooling articles were a good read. At the moment i'm waiting on some aluminium sheeting to arrive before i can build the ducts, the bad news is that some rough testing shows that the sound insulation probably won't make much difference. It se...

Well 2 hours of cutting and butchering the Silencer 3 got me one that fits my 9800 SE AIW. Not only do you have to work around the TV unit, theres a chip between each pair of ram blocks, a row of capacitors beside the tuner gets in the way, as does a heatsink on a small chip next to them. Big pain i...

Well the ducting has turned into a nightmare, but its getting there. While its always 120m deep the width / height drops to only 60mm at some points. So yeah, reduced airflow is a factor, especially when the sound insulation mat is taken into account. For anyone thats interested i'm covering up the ...

I haven't seen any talk of new AIW cards. I'm not sure if they're moving in a different direction with them now, since they're starting to do proper HDTV support with PCI express. Not sure, we can't get HDTV in the UK so i haven't been paying too much attention. As for the AIW / Silencer issue.... i...

The fan used in the silencers is one of the least durable i've seen, as new it should be quite quiet but given a month or 2 it'll get louder. Its now the loudest component in my system by far (excpet the air rush through my radiator). Plus, i can't leave it on low anymore, if i do it fails to spin u...

The new Arctic Silencers and AIW's info
Just some FYI, i spoted an Arctic Silencer 3 the other day while ordering stuff and got 1. Unfortunately theres no way it'll fit a 9800 SE AIW nicely, its intended for 256MB 9800 Pros and the XT so its not really surprising but the Silencer 1 & 2 weren't in stock or listed. In any case the fan seems...

woah! kudos for the huge post ;-) I like the whole in the bottom of the case idea, its something i hadn't even thought about but it makes perfect sense. Yeong Yang cube tips
I stumbled across a cheap-ish YY cube (0221B) this week and being less than satisifed with my antec 3700 BQE i've grabed one (its quiet, just not silent). The antec is moded with a nice Thermochill 120.1 on the front fan behind a Papst 4412FGL & a couple inches of ducting, the problems is that it st...
