I'm looking at an NSK3480 build also, but my constraints are a little different than yours. First a couple of comments on your build: 1. I don't understand the 80gb drive. A third drive adds noise and for only 80gb? Can you partition one of the bigger drives? Maybe you have a specific use for the dr...

I was helping my dad build a system based on an AX8. We have the exact same problem with TWO of these motherboards. I'm currently thinking there is a compatibility problem between the MB and the RAM (1 1GB stick of Corsair Value memory). I'm beginning to think that these motherboards are very picky ...

What PC Monitor do you use?
I'm trying to find a good monitoring program that will work on various computers (I have a few too many around the house). Ideally it would allow remote monitoring also (monitor temps, fan speeds of all computers from one location).

Installing XP-120...
I'm getting ready to install an XP-120 inside a Antec SLK3000, and I'm looking for pointers. I'm not an expert at installing any heat sink, and this thing is enormous. What order is easiest to install this bad boy? 1. Last - Just clip it on after everything is put together? or 2. Mount on motherboar...

I just wanted to thank you guys for posting this thread. I just used the ziptie method to attach a 120mm fan to my sonata (the original had gone bad) and it's super easy. Bought 2 ft of rubber vacuum hose at Shucks for $2. That's enough to mount 100 fans I think. Grabbed the zip ties and a razor bla...

I haven't done any real modding, but if your duct is secured to other locations, maybe you don't need to attach the fan to the heatsink, just make sure it's attached to the duct and have the duct cover the heatsink. This might solve your problem. Then again, you don't want a duct flopping around you...

Sonata + P4P800 Deluxe + XP-120 - Will it fit?
I have a Sonata case and an ASUS P4P800 Deluxe motherboard. I would like to get an XP-120 cooler. The P4P800 is on the compatibility list, however I'm worried about overhang interfering with the PSU. There is only about 1cm between the edge of the board and the PSU. Does anyone have this combination?

The Gigabyte K8NU-SLI has a passive cooler on it that doesn't interfere with graphics cards. This board appears identical to the K8NUXP-SLI except no wifi slot and some special power feature. It's also only $169. The CPU is the same orientation as the MSI, so it will probably suffer from the memory ...

GIGABYTE K8NU-SLI nForce4 SLI - passive chipset cooling
The Gigabyte K8NU-SLI appeared at NewEgg in the last few days. It's a passively cooled nForce4 board, so there are no issues of blocked slots. Does anyone know of any reviews of this board or how it compares to the other boards? It's actually the least expensive nForce4 SLI board they carry. P.S. Th...

Is there another NF4 SLI board where it's possible to put in passive cooling? The GIGABYTE "GA-K8NXP-SLI" and MSI "K8N Neo4 Platinum SLI" have the chipset fan under one of the video cards. At least on the ASUS MB chipset is between the cards. The GIGABYTE "GA-K8NU-SLI" is available at Newegg (wasn't...

I'm interested in this discussion also. I have an almost identical rig spec'ed out, except using an SLK3000 case and enermax 470 PSU. Picking the MB is proving challenging because of the NB heatsink and the cpu cooler. I don't see a clear recommendation about something that works, which is a bit of ...

New to this forum, so maybe shouldn't be giving advice, but... Besides all the great system silencing recommendations, you may also want to buy some keyboard, mouse, and monitor extension cables. If you need access to a dvd, then get a long USB cable and an external DVD. Then move the system out fro...

NEC DVD +/- RW 4x DVD Recordable Drive ND-1300A
I'm in the process of selecting components for a relatively quiet PC and this forum is awesome. First a huge thanks to everyone who contributes! One component I haven't found a lot of information on is a DVD Writer. The model that has been recommended on other forum is the NEC ND 1300A. Does anyone ...
