Yea, it is clearly blowing downward (into the case) and there is no air comming out the back or in that direction... I connected it in the same position as the original cooler (that is, the power connector is in the only possible configuration) I guess Ill try to fanmate it and see if that persists....

no, at '0.3 stone' it pretty quiet (my SP1612C is louder than it and masks all other noise :), nidec btw.) I'm happy with it, the temperatures are usually really low and you can't hear it on... even with the hard disk off, the noise / humming is really minimal btw, is it supposed to be sucking air o...

due to problems using the integrated LAN, and the resulting 50% loss of your PCI slots (1 of 2) from an extra card.... I would recommend against the Soltek K8T890Pro-939 *until* they fix the problem. This is unacceptable.

i have the same board and i cannot get the gigabit ethernet (realtek) to communicate with the router. Has something to do with being unable to negotiate a speed. Soltek k890pro-939 motherboard
a64 3000+
corsair pc3200 super duper ram
MSI 6600gt pci-e
seasonic s12 430W

I have no such problems (i just built it). It seems your PSU looks good and it is your graphics card. RMA it and see if that helps.

I installed an nv6 on an MSI 6600gt PICExpress and it fits fine and is very quiet (claims 0.3 stones or something of the sort). There is NO clicking.

I ordered an nv6 from jabtech (for like 25 bucks vs newegg's 43). I'll get it next week and ill be posting some results. It claims to be "Noise Level: 0.3 Sone". Which should be ~20-25ish territory. Fanmate it and it would be ok. Supposedly they fixed the clicking of older versions. Supposedly.

sorry for the delay, the number was fairly small, however the symptoms were severe -- crashes and clicking when accessing certain partitions. Clearly DOA/close to it. RMAed it and got a JVC in return :( bust. Not sure if I should risk buying another spinpoint as my backup(!)

Soltek SL-K890Pro experiences?

I'm planning a new system for an a64 3200+ 90nm 939. I'm wondering what experiences people have had with this board and or information regarding the board relating to problems. I saw MikeC post that there was a noise issue with the sample he had--however, he did not elaborate. Would anyone recommend...

thank you for the complete response :) I understand there will be a performance bump with the e-stepping chips (sse3 and the memory controller), but will the power consumption go down as a result or (as the sse3 leads me to believe) the increased performance will be coupled with an increase in power...

I'm a bit confused after reading all this... So how much power peak does the Athlon 64 3000+ 90nm 939 consume? (or should I be asking for the realistic 'peak')

More importantly, would it be wise to buy a 90nm 939 3000+ instead of waiting for the 25/35 TDP Turion 754 series @ 3000+

I can tell you this much: I installed a rev1 or 2 VGA cooler on a pny geforce3 ti200. It fit without any problems. The lowest speed (1200 rpm?) is very quiet although you can sometimes make out 'touching' noises if the AC is too tightly screwed to the VGA card. (so loosen if need be). All in all, it...

I ended up mounting it at a 45 degree angle between the protruding brass nobs. After some adjustments, the knobs were pushing into the fan so it would stay still. Its lovely @ 5v (yate loon orange 120mm stock ~1300 rpm). Did I mention its orange?
