One p4-m 2.4, one p4-2.6C, one p4-2.53, one dual p3-800, two AXP 2200+s, one A64 2800+, one P-M 715, one celeron 1.8, and whatever computers pass through my office as I work on them (currently one p3-1000). All pretty much 24/7. I'm tempted to add the two p2-233 laptops and one K6-2 450 laptop I hav...

If it's for Folding@Home ... your exempt from most noise restrictions ... 8) And if modifications are .. 'in the pipeline' ... anything is acceptable in the .. 'interim' ... Pete Weeeell, the loud ones are the dual-p3 and the P4 2.4. The p3 is a server with a SCSI drive. The IDE interfaces o...

Just as an aside, I'm considering a DP workstation and went out and priced a Xeon, Opteron and G5 system. With basically equivalent hardware (same size HDD(s), RAM, all with the fastest processor available, more or less equivalently PRICED video cards, etc. No software besides OS and whatever apple ...

Thanks Roy. I guess I'm just used to my XP 2200 and P4 2.6c, so it seems horrible :) I think I'll just leave both clients running: they'll put out WUs as they see fit, and if they're not running unusually slowly I'm happy. I just have it folding to keep it busy, as it's not under too much strain in ...

6 days for one WU?
Hey everyone. I'm trying to figure out if I have a problem, but I have no other data to compare with. I'm running linux (Mandrake 9.2 SMP kernel) on a dual P3-800 with two instances of F@H. Here are the F@H processes: 11237 ? 00:00:04 FAH4Console-Lin 11238 ? 00:00:04 FAH4Console-Lin 11239 ? 00:00:00...

Borging a mac...
Hello everyone, Latest from the front... -We have a(nother?) mac folding for SPCR now :D My friend's powerbook is putting out units for us. It's fairly quiet. And I love the screen. <tongue in cheek>I must resist the call of the dark side...At least the interface is unwieldy (for me, anyway). That m...

David, I chose the 2.6C for the 200/800 FSB. It's a very nice processor at the default settings. However, it won't OC even a single MHz: won't even POST at 201/804/2613. When I enable HT, win2k will not even get to load the desktop completely before BSODing (different errors each time 'til I gave up...

Let's see...I took a typing test at one point and I have a little certificate saying I can type 72 WPM (reading a text and copying it), but my wife was talking to me the whole time asking "what are you doing?" so I think I can do a bit better than that :) I don't think I'm appreciably faster typing ...

My setup is pretty boring. At the office I work at, I take care of the computer stuff, in addition to the other things I do. So I have a 2000+ and Celeron 1.6 from that. Then I have my personal computer and my wife's: 2200+ and P4C 2.6 (HT disabled, it crashes the damned thing when it's on). Those f...

David: I found it encouraging. It's kinda like fans cheering when you're playing a sport :) Led me to redouble my efforts at finding "victims" whose computers I could borg  Mutt_n_head: Take the charge and have it sent COD, if they do it. Or...Hm...Have any friends who'd use their card if y...

Well, I voted normal as far as the voice itself goes. But I have to say a nice accent can make all the difference. My wife has the BEST accent. She's German and there's a cute, very slight accent when she says some things. Most people don't even notice it, but I guess I have to hear it enough that I...

I've switched over to linux (mandrake 9.1) on my 2200+. There'll be a dip in my production today and yesterday, but it'll be back up tomorrow. I used the finstall thing that someone recommended in the linux thread, and looking at the output of "folding status" I came up with an evil idea. It shows w...

Semm, what boxes do you have? I've got only 2 PCs running at the moment, doing some major repackagking/reinstalling, will have 4 running at the end of the week. I have, all running at stock speed a 2200+, a 2.6c, a 2000+, a celery 1.6, a celery 700 (rarely folding, it's a friend's computer), a P-M ...
