Why is my Liberty running so hot?
I have an Intel Core2 6600, GeForce 8800GTS, 2 HDDs, 1 DVDRW, and 2GB or PC6400 in an Antec P150 powered by an Enermax Liberty 500 that is about a year old. At idle the machine is very warm, under load the top of the case is too hot to touch for more than a few seconds. I don't have any hard measure...

Any word on who produces the capacitors? Rubycon? I believe Sanyo and Luxon may also be Japanese. Thanks. The ones I can see in the pics are Chemi-Con. Very nice. And Luxon is the absolute bottom of the barrel in Taiwanese crap. Sanyo, Rubycon, Chemi-Con, and Panasonic are the only acceptable brand...

RAID 1 was never meant to be a backup solution, nor does it function well as one. It's purpose is to eliminate downtime in the event of a drive failure. It does not guard against viruses, corruption, accidental deletion, theft, power irregularities, or any kind of total system meltdown. Get an exter...

When troubleshooting standby issues keep in mind that both your BIOS and every single device driver on your machine must be compliant. And I also wouldn't bother with anything other than WinXP. The simple truth is that power management issues are at the bottom of the list for hardware makers, so you...

Personally on my i875 board I got some weird results with the above reg hack-- once I entered it, the power switch no longer worked to wake my computer from standby! Doh! I had to hold it down for 4 secs to effectively power off the machine, then reboot. :P Something else just occurred to me-is you...

I've also been using this for years. It took a long time for mobo BIOSes and device drivers to all be fully compliant, and it nver really worked before WinXP. And getting the wake-on-USB to work was something I've been struggling with for longer than I can recall. Some mobos don't support USB wake f...

Re: Gigabyte GA-8KNXP as an alternative to ASUS P4P800 Delu
I saw your post on alt.comp.periphs.mainboard.asus in the thread where the guy killed his board. He didn't know what he was doing, so don't let that influence you.silenceseeker wrote: Any comments, ideas or even corrections to incorrect perceptions I may have presented here would be greatly appreciated.

For the Americans, Radio shack sells a molex extractor:

Very easy. I'm sure most electronics stores have them, just make sure to get the plunger type.

Well damn. The first thing I did when I decided to learn cablegami was to go looking for that MaxPC article online and I could never find it. I googled till my fingers got numb and found zilch. I even went to Voodoo's site to see if I could find some halfway decent pics of their work and never saw ...

For my first post I present what I feel is a good balance between noise and performance: Intel Pentium 4 2400MHz @ 3000MHz | MSI 865PE Neo2-FISR | 1024 MB of Mushkin PC3200 Blue | Asus 8420 (Geforce4 Ti 4200) | Seagate 7200.7 SATA 8MB 80 GB | Samsung SP80 80 GB | Audigy2 | Windows XP Pro CPU-The 2.4...
